I remember seeing the first gameplay of this game god knows when it was and knowing immediately it would be crap. Everyone i knew said i was wrong. It's great to be right.

Here's hoping for battlefront 3 someday.

I'm kind of surprised to see someone playing in first person. That is a major disadvantage in this game.

@mcblemmen: "It's great to be right" that a game isn't good (even though it is good). Sounds like you live a cool life.

This is one weird Klan rally...

@mike: Most people I see playing it seem to be playing it in fp. Maybe out of habit. It's definitely a big disadvantage though.

Yo this game is pretty good. Now excuse me while I go bathe in the tears of people wanting a campaign and/or Pandemic to come back for a third one of these.

Most of the footage I've seen is from people playing in first person.

Eh, maybe I'm not the person for this type of game, but this looks super boring. So much killing non-consequential people, dying so easily, until you stumble upon point to capture/hold or the AT-AT's shield is down. Those short moments seem exciting when it matters, but so much of this game just seems like... running, then taking potshots at an enemy across the map.

@mcblemmen: but you were not right, it's a solid game. Just not exceptional.

It's light on content but the mechanics and gameplay are fun. Rented it for the day and I will purchase it when it drops in price a bit.

The FBI is headquartered in Quantico. CIA is Langley. This will make sense after you hear the best exchange of the year which involves Jeff saying "I can get an AK..."

Hearing Jeff and Dan talk about Spacebars in the beginning reminded me of how great Spaceballs was but also how depressingly awful the Spaceballs cartoon was when it came out in 2008. Rick Moranis and Bill Pullman not included.

I loved the original Battlefront, and I liked being in the battles and getting into any vehicle without leveling up. Letting the players level up to play as iconic Star Wars characters is fine, but having to level up for vehicles to me kind of puts me off on the game. Still looks fun.

You don't have to level up for vehicles, you just pick the powerups up right off the ground at any time.

That's one mode. In Walker Assault, the Imperials are trying to stop the Rebels from activating all of their uplinks. If that happens, then Y-Wing bombers are called in and the AT-AT walkers become vulnerable for a short period of time. There isn't any stumbling on anything, all of the locations are clearly marked on your screen as icons.

In some aspects I've kinda waited 30 years for this game. It looks fantastic and plays super smooth, but I probably won't play it forever... But when does anyone really do that with video games these days, unless it's Minecraft and you're a kid who has all the time in the world.

I can certainly understand why some people are very disappointed in it.

I hadn't heard about the Leia stuff until Jeff mentioned it... That's... wild.

My jaw kind of dropped when he did that, great for a Quicklook but for a game where the ONLY thing it has going for it is the look/style it just seems ...wrong.

On the one hand, I'm enough of a goddam nerd that I know that the ships used to take down AT-ATs on Hoth aren't A-Wings, as Dan refers to them a few times. I spent WAY too much time playing X-Wing/TIE Fighter/X-Wing vs TIE Fighter to make that mistake.

But at least I'm not a big enough nerd to know what they're actually called without googling.

Great presentation but it just seems so limited compared to Battlefront 2, which is ten years old. That game had 44 maps spread out across 18 planets, including space combat. To me, the Star Wars fantasy is a lot of things - using lightsabers and wielding the force, piloting amazing starships, or stepping into the shoes of a beloved character. Ground battles between stormtroopers and rebel soldiers are probably the most boring arena of conflict in the Star Wars universe.

Also, Palpatine running around with his fingers steepled in front of him is fucking funny as shit.

After playing the Beta I was really ready to get into this game, however Halo 5 kinda sucked out some of the hype I had for this game. While Warzone isn't perfect, it really gave me my Battlefront gameplay fix I was wanting.

Ground battles with Imperial and Rebel people is literally the titular thing. The entire first act of Empire is a ground battle. Jedi's end bit is ground battle and space battle. Even episodes 1 and 2 have ground battles, albeit boring ones. Star Wars is much better when it's not a bunch of Jedi against faceless robot goons. That's the most boring area of conflict, the Clone Wars.

Different strokes for different folks. The end of A New Hope is iconic - the best space battle of all time. My favorite parts of the Battle of Hoth involve the snowspeeders versus the AT-ATs, not the snowtroopers and rebels just shooting rifles at each other. The whole Endor sequence with the Ewoks versus the Empire and its AT-STs bordered on parody and made the Empire's forces, at the climax of the series when they needed to be the most threatening, seem completely and utterly ineffectual. The saving grace there was the space battle, which carried actual stakes for the rebels when the Death Star II's shield hadn't been brought down yet.

I never got anything out of watching the ground troops shoot at each other in those films.

@amyggen: They do not sell AK-47s at Wal-Mart. They may sell a semi-automatic lookalike, but I promise you they are not fully automatic AK-47s. Those are restricted by the National Firearms Act and can only be acquired from a special dealer by residents of certain states after a background check and paying a tax to the ATF.

In some states like California, Wal-Mart doesn't sell firearms at all anymore and hasn't for years.

At least show a little remorse Dan for quitting in the middle of a match and ruining it for the other people...
