@rorie: I agree that some might have felt Hollow Knight didn't pull them in fast enough but the same can be said for NieR. Vinny himself felt NieR wasn't compelling in it's first play and it wasn't until he was pushed by friends to push through to three playthroughs before it really kicked in.
Hollow Knight didn't have this push and I feel that there's a good number of people who would have had a better time had they stuck things out. It's not to say I'm right or wrong but seeing so few overall votes in the poll with a much higher weighted rank does seem to imply that many people who did play it enjoyed it a great deal.
I know that Abby wanted to play more so maybe we will hear some more about it from the NY team.
I think the pure votes demonstrates that Hollow Knight was not played by enough people due to poor exposure by the gaming press at large.
Considering how much you have to play NieR: Automata just to see where the game turns I was surprised at how many people just fell off Hollow Knight so fast.
Hero Quest! My god I wanted that game so bad when I was a child (the ads got to me) and managed to get it as a birthday present. Played that game many times over 8 years before it was destroyed due to water damage...
@wandrecanada: I don't mean salt and sugar can't be mixed. If I tasted salt when eating chocolate I would not like it. If I tasted sweetness when eating a potato chip I would not like it.
PB&J is a very salty taste combined with a very sweet one and it's awful.
Actually it's not salty; it's a savory flavor (nuts fall into savory) sometimes called umami, that you are tasting. Depending on the jelly or jam you use this can change the combination but classic PB&J is mostly the sweet and savory flavors.
I would guess if you ever tried a salt free peanut butter you would find it bitter and unappealing based off your dislike of the PB&J. This might cross into mushroom or nut distaste as well.
I think loot boxes you can sell for more in game currency is WORSE than casino gambling.
Imagine a Casino where the only thing you can win is Casino tokens that can only be used to do more gambling...
At least we know in a Casino that some people walk away with actual gains. Random loot boxes with re-saleable goods means all money will ultimately be with the producers no matter what.
