That's one of the many plot holes going on.

It's not actually a plot hole. There is a very good story reason for it and to find out you have to keep playing (watching).

After finishing the final episode today I can only say that Life is Strange is a mental roller-coaster.

Despite some very odd turns in the finale you can at least be sure the ending is very much and ending.

Both games now have a similar pedigree of re-inventing their mechanics, progression and presentation. Well Destiny has done it once with Taken King, Warframe has re-worked itself about 4 times. Mod 2.0, UI 2.0, Melee 2.0 and recently Parkour / Movement 2.0. Next rework for warframe announced to be progression and starchart 3.0

Warframe has a much better mechanic if only because nearly every item you can purchase is achievable in game via time or accomplishment. Warframe does feature some exclusive cosmetics for cash but it's cash shop features mostly items that are grindable in game.

When you lock all paid content behind a wall it segments it into something that is not a metric of your fandom so much as a metric of your pocketbook. Mixing in content that would normally take random amounts of time (see RNG) and paying to go around that gate seems like the right way to make cash translate to time. Kinda like how time at work translates to cash.
