best games I played in 2023

i got very busy this year and didn't do a lot besides work. i still played some games tho.

List items

  • i beat it this year & finished the DLC. i think xenoblade chronicles is my favorite jrpg series????

  • i have become totally pik-pilled.

  • this game was really good. i really enjoyed my time with it tho it did not stick with me much afterwards

  • i still miss stylus controls but this was the best one of these.

  • i did not beat this in 2023 but i played like a zillion hours and got thru act 2 twice lol

  • mario wonder is a very tight and distilled mario game. it isn't that long, it isn't that hard, but it's always fun and creative. really excited to see what a mario wonder 2 has in store, or just the next thing from this team.

  • i started this last year but at some point in like february i got super into this and it is very fun!

  • i am the weirdo who did not like dating sim heavy stuff since awakening. i liked engage cuz it was a very silly story with fun characters and the combat was good. a really great srpg and my favorite fire emblem since the gamecube and wii

  • a really good game. music, art, everything.

  • specifically phantom liberty and the 2.0 update. i sort of liked cyberpunk when it came out a few years ago, but I absolutely adored it now. maybe cuz the anime endeared the world more for me?? maybe cuz the gameplay is way better now and it runs good??

  • i love language and this was a fun language game. had some issues (stealth sections, was annoying to backtrack) but overall A++

  • i loved armored core as a kid and ive always liked big robits. it was also good to see from make an actually hard game again. idk tho something about me didn't grab me as I expected it to, tho I did enjoy it and go back to it every now and again.

  • ff16 is weird. i was very hype for this game. i heard good things about it. it took me like 5 months to beat and i often felt like it was a slog but i kept coming back. the big monster fights are cool but the story was a mess and the characters were all over and i really think its like the most 7/10 game i've ever played. the platonic ideal of a "decent" game that came out in a year stacked to the brim with amazing games
