@suits: Thanks. Already got it. Through Google no less. But I had to piece together that it started in 2014 and there were no previous results, at least found on Google, so my curiousity of whether their were community polls by users previous to that and if anyone knew of them goes unsated.
But, hey, good on you for generously donating a little extra snark. It's what keeps the internet fun.
There are so many good games this year, that I'm having a hard time whittling down my list this year. Like, does Andromeda go above Sonic Mania or Battlefront II? Decisions!
No, but seriously, does anyone have links to the previous years' results? I'd be interested in seeing those.
What will be a surprise is if this game has long lasting effects on the industry in the form of government investigations into gambling allegations, as we've seen start in the Netherlands and Belgium. (It is of note that the Dutch investigation somewhat preceded this game's launch; the Belgian followed it.)
@klager: You forgot NieR: Automata getting the honorable 10th place mention as Alex passionately advocates for it, but no one else has put more than 5 hours into it and mostly proclaim, "Yeah, that sounds cool."
Really ? I live in France and there's no trace of them anywhere, I had to search to find a cartoon on one of the least watched national channel (France4). Maybe they are popular in Quebec but that not the case in Europe.
We get the French channels as well in suisse romande, and we always saw it on France 3, which is a popular channel. They're all part of the same network, so maybe they switched to France 4 at some point. Looking at my current listing I see them airing on Nickelodeon twice today at 10am and 4pm. Okay, yeah, they're also on France 4 now. I just saw that. So it's on two channels, twice a day here.
Ubisoft has more riding on the success of this game than Nintendo, right? This game exists to reinvigorate the Rabbids franchise in this Minions-crazed world, right? Who better to rescue the Rabbids than Mario?
The Rabbids are very popular in francophone regions. It's one of the more popular cartoons series here in Western Europe (sans the U.K.). People confuse it for the Minions, but I would say it's much more like Looney Tunes. Very slapstick with a lot of Wile E. Coyote style antics. The graphic novels are also quite popular. They even have a theme park in Quebec.
I will admit that I don't know anyone that plays the games, however.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one to find the core gameplay of the original Sonic games to be frustrating. I think just speeding up the slow speed of Sonic would have helped, but then they'd have to create some better platforming and really fine tune the 'speed as reward' sections. Then again, better minds than me have tried to improve Sonic gameplay, and we've seen how that turned out over the years.
It's almost funny to remember a time when the Sonic vs. Mario playground arguments were a serious thing. I've seen kids throw down in the four square line. No idea what the current version of that would be.
Edit - My memory and all my sources said Powerman 3000 nearly a minute ago. I think I just slipped into a Berentstein Bears universe while on the toilet.
