I liked Days Gone plenty, you just have to know what you're getting into. I thought the zombie hordes were neat and the story was nothing groundbreaking but it was fun enough, although the conspiracy theorist's dialogue is questionable haha. I'm not into Far Cry games or the last few Assassin's Creeds, but I got the same kind of fun out of it, outposts and checking stuff off the map, etc. The environmental art was my favorite part and once you upgrade the bike (takes way too long to be fair) it feels good to drive.
^^ I really want to try Wingspawn but copies are currently way overpriced b/c it's sold out haha. I know there is a digital version coming to steam but is there a tabletop sim or something that has it?
My girlfriend and I have been playing Codenames: Duet and it's a fun co-op game. It comes with a lot of cards but the games themselves are pretty short. We have Pandemic but haven't tried it with two people yet. The one I'd definitely recommend is Carcassonne, it's easy to pick up but the games can go for 30-45 minutes and we've had a great time just the two of us. It's not co-operative but it's not too cutthroat either. It's also just a very aesthetically pleasing game haha, you lay the tiles to this medieval landscape out one-by-one and it always looks cool at the end.
Oh yeah and Monopoly Go is another fun card game, Jeff B. has talked about it on the beastcast but it's a stripped down version of monopoly that's still fun to play and works with two people. It's definitely more on the competitive side though haha.
I get what you're saying and don't think it would be "censorship" for them to swear less. I'm not unsympathetic to your situation and I'm sorry if you aren't able to wear headphones because your kids are young and you need to keep an eye on them or something. Personally though I would be bummed out if they went clean because there have been many times when a well-timed f-bomb has made me laugh and given comedic emphasis to a cast member's sentiment. There's also quite a bit of suggestive humor that isn't necessarily cussing but I would miss if it was gone, and it comes from them being able to let loose and riff off each other.
That said, I also only listen to the podcast wearing headphones or in the car because my girlfriend, while she's into some video games, isn't into them enough for me to play a 2-3 hour podcast about them in the house. If you're able to do this I would suggest it, or buy an aux cord and listen in the car, etc. I also often listen while doing chores and yard work, tasks you might be doing by yourself to begin with.
Mafia 1 was one of my favorites as a kid, I still have the prima guide. 2 was still good imo and the mission that calls back to the first game really floored me (won't spoil it). 3 was fun but they should have trimmed half of it, and I didn't like how they introduced a bunch of interesting characters at the beginning and then only used them for the intro. Lincoln was cool but they didn't flesh him out much.
Regardless would pay for this even just to play Mafia 1 again, gonna be such a nostalgia trip. I get what you're saying though @brunothethird I'm not Italian but I'm sure some of the stories/dialogue won't age well lol
