Started in performance mode and was pretty impressed. I switched to resolution mode and couldn’t handle it for more than 5 minutes. It didn’t look noticeably better (to me) and it was just sooooo chunky. There was also absolutely brutal input lag which other people have mentioned.

It was so bad that I thought something was wrong with my PS4 but I’m glad everyone else is having the same experience as me.

Sticking to performance mode from now on.

My dad’s vegetarian pasta carbonara, martinelli sparkling cider (not an alcohol lover), and my mom’s red velvet cake.

A lot of people saying the skill trees aren’t interesting enough probably didn’t play the Pre-Sequel. While it’s a pretty bare-bones game compared to 2, they absolutely improved the skill trees with more gameplay changing effects such as ability modifiers and so forth.

Everyone on reddit is focusing on how the changes are influencing PvP which interests me very little.

In PvE, the changes seem good but maybe a little on the low end. I think rapid-fire scout rifles feel viable now with the damage and precision buffs. I used a full-auto scout in the prestige nightfall and I felt like I was just eating through enemies.

Shotguns feel good to me now. I used Perfect Paradox near-exclusively for an entire strike thanks to the massive buff to ammo capacity and the 35% damage buff. Perfect Paradox now holds 21 ammo which feels amazing.

I still have a lot of weapons to test out, but I’m at least happier playing now.

So I think my issue with Dark Souls III is that they tried too hard to balance all of the weapons and spells down to the same level. Everything else about the game I love, though.

It's hard for me to quantify my assertion, but all of the weapons and spells feel watered down compared to previous games. Like they looked at the swords and said, "Let's make a baseline dps in try and hit that with all weapons." They kinda missed the mark with straight swords but they only feel like 10% better than other weapons. With spells I want to feel as powerful as I did at the end of Dark Souls 1. I want to kill bosses in a few spell casts if I set up my gear and stats correctly. I also miss hybrid classes, something that doesn't feel possible in 3.

A big part of the fun that I find in RPG's is discovering the broken builds or spells that can trivialize the game, because then I can set limits for future play throughs if I want to but I can still dabble in broken mechanics. In Dark Souls III, fighting bosses feels like some sterilized experience where I'm always going to beat the boss at roughly the same speed no matter what.

My favorite weapon in the game is the Old Wolf Curved Sword. It’s a curved greatsword you get through the Wolves of Farron. If you don’t want to do PvP you can just farm the materials from certain enemies.

It’s a criminally underrated weapon. It definitely doesn’t out-damage the major hitters, but it makes up for it with its fashion and weapon art. I’ve never run into anyone else who uses it in PvP so no one ever expects the weapon art to be so deadly. If you can do a regular R1 and then do the full weapon art combo, it can one-shot people.

Basically just build quality (40 dex/40 str) for max damage. I think they even buffed its base damage when the last DLC came out so I found myself one-shotting people even more when I picked up the game again recently.

I mean...like others have already said, without any actual new content there’s still no reason for me to return to the game. The slow pace at which they release mechanical changes and/or sandbox changes is just mind boggling.

Also, I seem to remember everyone pleading Bungie NOT to nerf explosive rounds and instead bring everything else in line with it. Yet they are nerfing one of the only fun weapon perks that’s still in the game.

Friend I was playing with got a tenderizer gem (weakness exploit) on a non-tempered bagel goose today. One of those gems would allow me to switch out a piece of gear for something more appealing. Needless to say I was slightly salty.
