I'm a bad ambassador I guess? ash and amane and poison aren't there to create a diverse roster, they're there for fan art for weebs to jerk it to. inclusive progressive 'ally' or fetishist, its all the same to me. inclusion has never helped me personally cause where I live it's dangerous to be 'someone like me,' which makes it more difficult to accept that in a fantasy world with heavy patriarchal and fascist undertones (its baldurs gate ffs) that person is allowed to exist. it's still hell lol. also if you look to fantasy video games for good writing you're kinda doin it wrong. There's a feeling I can't shake regarding labor concerns about the games industry and it's that you should be lucky that you're considered for that type of work at all. Maybe you should, cause for most people outside CA, toronto, NY etc don't have these types of opportunities to be working in air conditioning doing what they thought they loved to do. The poor and talentless don't have that. I don't mean to frame it as a contest and that conditions shouldn't be improved everywhere, but whatever. I'd gladly work for shit pay making shit I don't like for bored monied workers any day of the week.
Huh, it's weird hearing people say that the marsh puzzles in the Witness were the worst. I think I've enjoyed those ones the most.
definitely! the area stumped me the most out of the logical puzzles camp, but it was my favorite area and the most rewarding to finish. they don't give me any trouble anymore though! my least favorite is by far the desert temple. I tried that first solar panel for at least 40 minutes before realizing what was happening, and i just left out of embarrassment.
I wouldn't mind witness-style line puzzles in 99c workbooks at the grocery though, I need more~
Is it weird if the hobby of games alone is enough to make me feel guilty? The mining and manufacturing that directly supports the industry (every industry?) is basically slavery, and we're all complicit in it with the advance of technology so much so that it could be argued that we do support it. I also feel like i should be helping people in my free time instead of selfishly exploring a digital world that ultimately has a nominal effect on my life but consumes most of my time and effort. I like games, don't get me wrong, but I don't know if I can do this much longer. And as others have mentioned, so many games available are stupid boy stuff that I won't even consider playing, so I won't ever feel guilty about shooting dudes in the face, negating all other actors I sought out in the world for a fleeting feeling of progress because I simply refuse to play that shit.
@xerseslives: definitely. it's sweet that people are getting paid, but I'd like to see people that don't write or work in games professionally. the professional class has enough influence in discourse about games! if I could write or express myself well I'd have something for yall lol.
@quigia: hmm throughout this past couple of years, games have been jumping on it. i expect within the next decade it will have the level of popularity and tired tropes as traditional fantasy and scifi, if it doesn't already.
i must say tho I've been looking forward to this forever, kinda want to watch the QL but don't want it spoiled, but probably wont be able to afford it for a few months. conflicted cause i got an itchy .tor finger. also neo-san fransisco seems like the least anti-corporate city you could base your game off of and maybe including some other region of the world where inclusiveness means getting your ass jumped and hospitalized (fl reppin) would be more impactful for queer gamers js.
