@themasterds: I just hope that if this is a kinder, gentler GOTY going forward, they’re clear about when shit gets real so I can...I never thought I’d say this, but skip the opening content.

I think the logisitcal solution is less folks in the room, even if they swap folks from segment to segment like the E3 shows.

EDIT: I guess I’m just bummed out that for two years in a row, there’s clearly a divide and a lot of talking about how to fix the podcasts...

@tdous: @roadshell: Agreed so far.

It’s a bummer, since every year up until two years back was the best content Giant Bomb has done. I thought last year was a bunch of people yelling into the a void, as though loudness or repetition would win the day.

I hoped they’d just try to cycle folks in and out to combat this, but the current format just sounds like an overly-crowded Bombcast that’s forced to stay on-topic...so a less-good Bombcast.

I hope it picks-up as the week goes on...too friendly and touchy-feely for my liking, so far.

Not a fan of the formt change so far. I feel like I can get the generic “games are great, right guys?” thing anywhere.

Too often, it just sounds like the conversations they have could be heard on any weekly podcast. Maybe day one isn’t for me...or however many days of this they do...

If the categories are Inglorious Basterds-style blood-letting, all will be well.

For the record, I’m just over two hours in as I write this...

@basanakin: That put me off, too. Silent Hill 2 is an amazing game that holds up in an awkward, stilted, dreamy, Twin Peaks sort of way.

This is a BAD version of the game, they used the bad control scheme, and sort of talked over all the story. I feel like the way to go with Silent Hill would be to have someone who knows the game drive up until things pick-up more, and then hand the controls over.

I’d absolutley watch a Silent Hill series play-through, assuming they got their hands on decent versions of the old games...wish I still had my OG Xbox version of Restless Dreams...

1) Don’t play the remake

2) Don’t play tank controls (they almost toggled it off)

3) That lighting is terrible

4) Konami as a man was an interesting aside

5) Of course that’s a Hayabusa mask!

@shiftygism: I got into these games when 2k15...? 2k16...? one of them...went free on Xbox One.

I fell out of wrestling games after nothing decent came out post-VPW2. I heard the 2k games were awful, so I made a joke charcater and beat The Undertaker with a testicular claw. The replay was amazingly stupid.

Anyhow...I enjoyed it. I’ve bought every one since. Digging this new one as well as the latest Fire Pro. Very different games, but I really enjoy them both.

As much as I like the 2k games, I get that they have issues. This one feels really polished compared to previous launches, and the upgrades to the engine and modes are very noticable over last year.

Anyhow, I’ll have to watch these guys talk shit about it. Watching Dan and Alex hate these games is fun.

@sirpsychosexy: @actionshakespeare:

ME1:Alien::ME2:Aliens....::ME3:Alien3?

Mass Effect 1 was the best and most charming. Mass Effect 2 was bigger and more audience-friendly, and amazing in its own right, but it’s no Mass Effect 1.

Mass Effect 3 deserves better than Alien 3 in my comparison. It’s really good, just not as fantastic as the first two.

@actionshakespeare: I’m just happy they’re going femshep. I don’t get worked up about “playing games wrong,” but I make an exception for femshep.

Funny...we have this board game at home. We played twice because there are so many damned pieces. It always seemed better suited to a video game. Maybe I’ll check it out.
