Did Bran say what difficulty they played TLOU2 on?

Jan made it sound like he adjusted the difficulty from time to time, he definitely messed with some of the accessibility options throughout the game (mainly high contrast mode).

I think a few weeks ago Brad said he went with Hard and Jeff sort of made fun of him for always doing that with Naughty Dog games and coming to regret it, with Brad countering that he was actually pretty bored by the original The Last of Us and walked away for several months before reading about how tense the harder difficulties could be and winding up really enjoying how the gameplay felt like an extension of the story rather than a rough sketch of a stealth game tacked onto a TV show.

Haven't played tlou2 yet, but tlou is 100% better, more fun, etc on the harder difficulty, that's real. I would hope they heard this feedback from people, since it was widespread, and ran with it.

@development: I don't know you or your brother, or any of the circumstances involved, but if you do what you're suggesting you could cause a rift in your family that might never heal. If a twitter post (that has since been deleted) is what is prompting you to take this step, please just take a few days and think on it. Twitter exists these days mainly to pour gasoline on trashfires, people endlessly burning totems to cultivate likes and followers. The fact that you even posted here about it says you're wavering on if it's a good idea or not. You have a personal, family matter, I hope there is a way to solve it within your family.

Tell me to fuck off or whatever, that's fine too.

This whole discussion was fantastic, however, I've always found the concept of a 'safe space' to be totally ridiculous. As a society, we should always strive to create an inclusive environment where everybody is welcome and feels safe, but there will never be a truly 'safe space'... we live in a world where there are people out there (seemingly innocent even) who have terrible motivations.

You should never expect anywhere to be a safe space... in the real world, nastiness happens in the seemingly most innocent places out there. You set yourself up for disappointment if you expect a safe space in the real world... come on.

Facebook's stock drop today disagrees (ad protest). Safe spaces are absolutely a thing outside of the campus environment, most corporations will begin enforcing them within the next couple months if they don't already. You should probably realize this if you value your job, even if you disagree with the theory.

*edit* I'm glad they finally spoke out about Tempkin, how it took this long is unbelievable. Creating such a workplace as management is inexcusable. I believe GB was streaming from their studios while these allegations were occurring, so uh, yeah.

Regarding Pascual, trying to step back here with a different perspective. At this point its purely an academic thought experiment here as Pascual's career is clearly ruined, but it's a pretty convincing encapsulation of the times we live in that even this community, that would ostensibly know him best, is giving him little to no benefit of the doubt. This is a person who donated his time year after year organizing efforts that amounted to over a million dollars of charity which correlates to an unequivocally moral good, a literal boon to society. This is the morally best thing that has ever come out of GB, I think everyone would agree with this. Not only does this not buy someone any sort of social cushioning, in fact it sets them up to take a larger fall.

I've not read all of the twitter threads because I value my sanity, but it seems this is based on allegations that he was silent after fights in a long distance relationship and ultimately was unfaithful in said long distance relationship. From my perspective, at face value this is a bad, but ultimately manageable relationship problem between two people. In fact, I would put good money on some variation of this scenario being how most long distance relationships end, and this is the first I've heard of calls to deplatform based on such a thing.

What I've learned from this is unfortunately an extremely cynical view of the type of person who sees this occur and would *still* choose to put their public persona out there for any purpose, morally good or otherwise. As the overton window shifts, "ya done", "rip". How many well meaning people with a plan for public good would see this happen and choose to step back and say, "why in the fuck would I choose to subject myself to this," and instead choose another pursuit? What good comes from any of this, other than the momentary bliss someone feels from unfollowing, unsubscribing? If you were someone who followed Matt before, do you feel better now that you've unfollowed?

Concentrate more on doing good, rather than feeling good, before we're all fucked beyond repair as a society.

Er, seems like traffic on the site has fallen off a bit lately. Glad they are at least trying.

@curufinwe: Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't that video series 10 years ago? People change after a decade. They were all a lot more abrasive back then and I'm glad to see that they changed who they are for the better. When I go back and watch old Giant Bomb stuff, they make some jokes I cannot see them saying at all nowadays. It's still painful and it doesn't excuse what they said, but I mean, judging their current selves based on themselves from 10 years ago seems a bit excessive.

You clearly don't understand cancel culture. Way too nuanced of a take, you're probably one of them.

I just started watching this again, does Jan usually look at item descriptions?

Anyway, glad Jan is trying this game. Might be more interesting to see a playthrough without chat leading though.
