If Dan and Jeff had their way and Red Dead 2 had Just Cause like player movement and you could transition off the horse like you can transition between vehicles in The Crew, it would be the worst game of all time. It's just baffling to me that they can't understand how the deliberate player movement and animations are deeply connected to how grounded and immersive the game feels, and that it would fall apart if you could bunnyhop around in the world. Completely baffling.
@francium34: oh wow, you took it a step further than me. Celeste cracked my top 10 and Odyssey is probably my GOTY. into the breach is great, it's in my top 10 too. I haven't played enough of mutant Year Zero but what I have played I really enjoyed.
Never got out of chapter 2 in RDR2. Too much tedious garbage in the way of actually playing the game. It's the first Rockstar game I actually hate. Thank God for Hitman 2 and the new AC Odyssey patch. They should keep me busy for a few weeks.
What if a Bethesda Fallout game DIDN'T start with you exiting a Vault and being on a quest to find someone? That would be wild.
That's it? Here's something wilder, how about instead of continuing to do patch jobs on a decrepit engine that's been in used since Morrowind they instead make one from the ground up?
The excuse of game's technology being so complex to the point of bugs being present always being a given continues to ring more and more hollow with each new release. The rest of the video game industry has been slowly catching up to Bethesda in this field of complex open-world games while also being more modern in gameplay and graphics. Bethesda needs to invest for the future or be left behind using the same excuse and dated tech.
they really haven't. sure there are open world games that are much prettier but no one is really making big open world games like bethesda with so many gameplay systems interacting with each other. also saying they need a new engine from the ground up is silly. its like telling epic to stop using unreal because its an old engine. there is a lot they could do better but this outrage over forcing them to build a new engine from scratch is silly and not very reasonable.
