I beat it! Solo on legendary.

I accidentally beat the final boss before I defeated one of her commanders (the robot guy). The narrator warned me a few times saying "I wasn't strong enough," but I thought he was talking about my orb levels. It made the robot section of the final tower really hard. I found a way of cheesing the final boss because I was dying immediately once the drop pods came in.

Flaws aside I liked it.

It definitely had that Sunset feeling of "stop moving and you die" which I really love. Weapon selection felt important depending on enemy type. I usually went with some mix of pulse beam (the best weapon I think), arc rifle, jackhammer, conqueror, prophecy and then some of the more niche weapons depending on scenario. I never switched out the health field gadget.

This looks like the Game Pass equivalent of a Netflix easy watch. I'll probably have fun with it!

I think this is a good description. I've been liking it the more I've played. It's a really good music/podcast game. There are definite rough edges, but the combat/movement have been fun.

Should you buy Crackdown 3 for $60? No.

However there is a sale going on for game pass ($2 for 2 months). It's bland, but I think it's worth that price if you're curious.

Has anyone played it? What's everyone think so far?

I've played a few hours. The world seems very empty. The lack of music is odd. The two narrator characters constantly chiming in is already annoying.

Also, for a game that has shown a lot of Terry Crews in its trailers, there's an incredibly small amount of dialogue for him so far. Aside from the opening cut scene he's been basically a silent protagonist. Just grunts and occasionally mumbling something about gravity.

I think the lock-on shooting works well with the movement, but I do wish there was more to the movement. It kinda feels like a bad Sunset Overdrive. I've only unlocked an air dash so maybe it picks up with the launch gadget and additional jumps/dashes.

I don't think the game is terrible, but it's just really, really plain so far.

No, unfortunately I ended up hating it. The game is just all fart, but no poo. I did finish it and liked certain aspects, but the gameplay/mission design/movement were awful. I also think the story takes a nosedive in chapters 5 and 6.

@nasher27: I played through the entire game on an XB1 and it was fine. Still looked good. There were some frame rate drops, but they weren’t common enough to be an issue and they didn’t affect the gameplay.

I lost 30k souls (whatever this game calls them) in that cursed dungeon. That place is indeed terrifying.

Got really far in and watched my AI partner get slammed off a cliff. I was using him as my light source so it was basically seeing a bunch of monsters around me and then the light turning off.

I'm not too far in, but I'm having a lot of fun so far. The online element is neat and helpful. I'm not really into Dark Souls games so idk how far I'll get, but this seems more on my level in terms of difficulty. I'm digging the art style and world. Austin posted a cool early moment on twitter if you want a taste of the atmosphere (I'd not watch it if you are planning on playing it).

Gamepass has been killing it lately. I don't really buy new games unless it's a really big release so cheap access to Ashen, Mutant Year Zero and Below (next week) has been great.

I've tried many times over the years to express these opinions to others, and have always been met with petty counterarguments like, "sounds to me like you don't have the attention span for these games."

Yeah, that argument is strange and I've also seen it a lot. Some people are acting weirdly snobbish about this game. It kinda reminds me of the classic "oh you probably didn't understand it" defense. This ain't some cryptic arthouse flick. It's not hard to see what Rockstar was going for. I just think a few design choices felt bad; hearing Jeff, Dan and Jan echo that makes me feel less alone in that opinion.

I agree with OP. I would way rather have loved RDR2 than be disappointed by it. Nobody wants to not like the game they bought.

Midtown Madness 3 is one of my favorite online games ever. Hunter, Stayaway and even just Cruise were so much fun. The online community was fantastic. Just a bunch of people who loved crashing cars into each other.
