I guess I need to hit the lab and grind out the Zangief match up.

And the tournament ends with a battle of the big bodies! Danggief's dang Zangief beat up on my (Jessna) poor Birdie in grand finals for the win! And Saft maintains a firm grip on his 3rd place position. An absolutely great turn out and great tourney! Hope to see you all again for the next one!

@fnrslvr: Sit and block is not some sort of all powerful option now. The extra time to recover grey life ensures that. In fact, that is the exact opposite of what is happening here. If you need the breathing room you have to decide whether you need to spend a meter to try and force the opponent away, or jump to avoid a throw, or riskily press a button to steal your turn back, or block to avoid a meaty normal. Characters with meterless DPs can replace the first three options with a DP and keep their CA while gaining all the momentum back. I'm not sure why you think these changes will lose sources of character diversity because literally nothing in these changes implies that will happen if you think about their implications for more than a few minutes. If anything it allows other characters (Laura, Sim, Alex, Birdie, etc.) to exhibit their unique strengths more regularly.

Whether these changes actually make the game better or worse is still up in the air, of course, but I think your particular worries aren't going to be much of an issue after the patch drops.

@zombiepie: Don't bother replaying a ton of content. Most of the sidequests worth doing should still be available. Did you see Daguerro? Do that. Do you care about the Chocobo stuff? If so, do that. The others are fun but non-essential.

I don't know everyone... maybe I don't like fun? I think playing highly flawed games is my wheelhouse, and where my area of expertise is. Maybe I was never meant to play a "good" Final Fantasy game?

After having read this entire blog series, this is is the only conclusion that makes sense to me. Obviously you should play FFXIII, it'll be right up your alley. Avoid Chrono Trigger, you'll hate it.

@l1ghtn1n Demon Flip as v-skill would be fine if they only had him build v-meter on hit. Would be a little lame to give him one of his regular specials as a v-skill. Teleport makes sense as a reversal, and honestly I hate chasing a teleporting Akuma around the screen anyway.

I really want them to give him an air Raging Demon like Oni had. Always made for the hypest KOs.

@zombiepie I've always loved Garnets side-plot with Marcus. Made the rest of Tantalus feel like more fully fleshed-out characters. I also enjoy the Freya-Sir Fratley and Vivi-Puck parts of Cleyra. I will say that I have no particularly fond feelings about Gargan Roo, and kinda dislike Zorn and Thorn outside of their (admittedly nonsensical) boss fight.
