Hey.
Hey.

Welcome to the forums. Let me be the first, for all of us here, to apologize sincerely for EVERYTHING. It can be hard to fathom how so much malice, poor argument and nihilist politik can stem from a community centered around having a good time, but stay fast and you'll find that there are still plenty of well-intended hopefuls looking for amicable conversation.

Forget sad violin. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ytCEuuW2_A

I just finished playing Skyrim on the PC; it crashed 3 times and glitched about once a half hour. Pretty smooth sailing for Bethesda all things considered.

I won't be buying games until the Steam sales start though, I've heard those can get pretty damn crazy.

Sir, you don't know the half of it. If you've never seen one before, there is no better time or place to stock up on games than a Steam sale. Just watch day-by-day and pick up whatever grabs your attention.

If you like Civ 5, it'll tide you over for a week or so by itself. Steam will probably do a smaller Black Friday shindig; buy two or three games there and then hold off until the Christmas sale. Your patience will be handsomely rewarded.

I was going to ask if there was anything more important we could all be doing with our time here, but I've decided the answer is probably no.

Skyrim is going to get five stars.

4 for Uncharted 3? Pshaw, sir. Nathan Drake will do better than that. Otherwise, that seems about right.

I'd probably say 6/10 as an aggregated score, though I only use that as a blatant indicator of shit rather than an appraisal of merit.

I actually find Metacritic to be very handy, but I use it as a collector rather than an aggregator. Even with review scores skewed to fit their 100 scheme, the range of the scores can tell you all sorts of things about the game. If a game is rated at 80 but has few if any scores above 90 then it probably isn't a particularly dynamic or memorable experience. If a game gets a 70 but has several 100-ish outliers, then your enjoyment will likely be a direct reflection of your interest in the genre.

And, of course, I make sure that any written advice I take is aligned with my own prejudices (ie, I don't really trust Brad about much of anything--sorry Brad).

@FourWudesaid:

In the far off future of the year 2014, Bro Wars 2 is released:

a: You can spend $70 to get the Access package which lets you play the game as the developers "originally intended it", access to both SP and MP is limited.

OR

b: You can spend $40 on the Micro-Transaction package which lets you play the bare-bones single player run through. Individual extra unlocks can be bought to upgrade.

OR

b: You can spend $140 on the Total Package which lets you play all the content that has been created for the game.

More like Bro Wars 1.5...

Master Chief. *activate paper bag*

I just don't see the coolness fans attach to him. He comes across as bland throughout the series.

The four Legend of Zelda experiences are:

Gameboy Zelda (Link's Awakening / Oracle games)

Topdown Zelda (Link to the Past / Zelda 1)

3D Zelda (Ocarina of Time / Twilight Princess)

Cel-da (Windwaker / Phantom Hourglass)

Pick one experience and if you don't like it just move to the next one. I personally recommend Link's Awakening, though I admit I'm not hugely in love with the franchise. I tend to prefer their deviant projects.
