Seems unfair to say flash games lack in depth, there's so many flash games with crazy concepts that are ahead of console and steam releases. don't forget that super meat boy started as a flash game.
I honestly think people in general should just remove "it's like a flash game" from their lexicon. It's dismissive in a way that's full of a lot of stereotypes that aren't actually at all dependent on the platform it was developed on, and often comes from being critical of a few aspects of a game that aren't even necessarily negative, such as having clean and simple art. Ironically I see it levied at games that actually have really high resolution 2D art that looks really good, as well, just because it follows a certain style.
It also just isn't relevant anymore. Flash has basically been a dead platform on its last legs for a few years now. Most games that people accuse of "looking like a Flash game" aren't even made in Flash anymore.
One of my coworkers is a Fullsail graduate from just a couple years ago. They're still doing the thing.
That thing being giving you good industry training for music production, video production, and video game programming/design/art/sound, but not giving you a real accredited degree, and being a little expensive.
Also, in GL Quake, you could only see through the water if the server was running modified maps that treated water as see-through. It was up to server operators to decide if they thought it was fair, at first, and later it was up to the map authors compiling new custom maps.
@benpack Tipping for delivery does not, in fact, scale differently than tipping at a restaurant, and you definitely should be tipping 15-20% and not some flat amount that might end up being less than that. Your $9, 12% tip rate was extremely unfair to that driver. Most delivery drivers still get paid at the lower-than-minimum-wage "tip wage", and on top of that often have to deal with a lot of people giving them $0 tips or $2 "flat" tips, while also putting miles/damage/wear on their own personal vehicles, which isn't reflected in their pay at all.
Saying Dota isn't an RTS because you don't build units out of buildings is like saying Counter-Strike isn't a first person shooter because you don't respawn during a round. It's an old, silly, arbitrary argument that no one has cared about in 20 years.
