Maybe it's naïve of me but it still surprises me when huge IPs keep cheaping out on talent. That sounds hurtful to Aspyr and I'm not saying port work is all they are capable of but it's such a weird choice for such a big name (Star Wars) and a big game from that brand (KOTOR). It being moved to yet another cheapo studio is... fucking weird? An Eastern European Saber Interactive team?

I suppose Spiders will probably end up working on the KOTOR II remake?

Bloody hell these Star Wars videogames are just cursed, huh? I know people hate Quantic Dream but I was bummed when I heard their game was also in dev hell. I was looking forward to this more than that one too. Hopefully the Massive (Division devs) Star Wars game avoids disaster.

You already mentioned it but it bears repeating that Battlefield is 100% lost in the woods. And based on the choices still being made by the devs it is feasting on poisonous mushrooms.

I know BFV underperformed and has it's detractors but the core of it was a very good game. Just with an anemeic live service and totally misguided attempt at a BR mode.

2042 is genuinely the worst Battlefield game I have ever played AND has an even more anaemic live service.

The devs keep posting about how they are working hard and even some interview with Eurogamer claimed it had a big team but I fully believe it's a weekend at Bernie's situation.

I can only hope that another developer has a crack at the formula in a way that succeeds because DICE has clearly lost it's way.

Disco Elysium, Outer Wilds, Sable, Cruelty Squad. These games have NOTHING in common but I really loved playing them over the last few years. The notion of ignoring indie games is kinda wild. No wonder you're fed up with games! Missing all the good shit, haha.

Obra Dinn also rules. Also not sure if its indie per se but Stellaris is probably my game of the generation.

I expect a shitload of shilling and I expect to have a good time being shilled at. I don't have any specific expectations I just hope the games look good (which is to say, to my taste) or are at least entertainingly bad looking.

I want to get excited for stuff I've never heard of before. New cool games please.

Oh my god I expected that chart to be like "we are adding XYZ mission or ABC feature" but it seems literally to be fully in the weeds engine goals? Who the fuck cares whether the entities are loaded in the client server side online jpeg pipeline or whether the navmesh sync will be attuned with the geo-poly triangle system.

Who is that for? If the fans of this thing are in so deep that a chart like that is exciting... Wowee. This thing hasn't been something I am really interested in playing (even though I bought it for 30 USD a decade ago) but this one still shook me.

I am really worried that this game is going to come out so far in the future that Mark Hamil will have died of old age and it will forever be his last credited appearance.

Battlefield 2042 is probably the biggest whiff and most mismanaged game I've ever played so that alone bumped them further down the totem pole if that was even possible. Excluding Fallen Order and Squadrons haven't given a shit about anything they've put out in a year or two so it's looking pretty grim. Thank god the Star Wars licence is opening up to other studios now.

Seconding the recommendation of GDC talks. I much prefer "primary sources" when it comes to video game documentary stuff which puts the GDC post mortems and NoClip shows way above most others.

I'm really digging it. I am all in on immersive sims/crpgs so this is basically directly targeting me. I need to get over my usual hang ups of wanting to get through optimally because the most interesting stuff is when the wheels fall off and everything is covered in acid or fire.

I'm still on the first char, Jane the bounty hunter, and I am curious how different the core gameplay is for the other classes.

Even though the graphics clearly have a bit of a budget the UI and style is gorgeous. I am in love with the portaits and even the sun burst you get starting the game.

I hope it does well because as a long time Arkane fan I fear this has "cult classic that didnt sell huge numbers" all over it.
