So, we all know that Square Enix published two different versions of Nier, one for the Western markets and one for the Japanese market, and the only real difference (as far as I know) is the protagonist. In Nier Replicant (the Japanese version) the protagonist is a typical slightly androgynous young man who's trying to save his sister. In Nier Gestalt (the Western version), he's a big, burly, and oh-so ugly man who's fighting for his daughter. Now, does anyone else feel kind of insulted that Cavia thought that this ugly man would appeal more to us than a typical JRPG protagonist? I'm just wondering whether I'm alone in this or not.
I'm playing Nier right now and I'm actually really enjoying it. I have to admit, I made the same mistake as Justin and tried fishing in that spot for about 20 minutes before taking a break and running around exploring the town. I just stumbled upon the right spot to fish and thought it was such a shame that the game does such a bad job of showing you where you need to fish. it's just a bummer because there's something really cool here, it's just buried underneath tedious missions and confusing side-quests.
In regards to the first question, Abaddon only planned on breaking the first six seals, and not getting the Riders in on the party. But the Council or whatever those three massive stone heads who sentence War at the beginning of the game are called found out about Abaddon's plan. They couldn't directly interfere for some reason, so they broke the seventh seal and then got Ulthane to reforge it.
I'm not sure the game even elaborates too much on this. I guess when War got shanked he just got SUPER pissed off and unleashed his godlike rage and smoked the Watcher. I mean, he's fucking WAR for Christ's sake. No pansy ass watcher demon can really keep him down.
I've got a playlist of Can't Touch This, Kung Fu Fighting and some European dance music that's constantly on repeat when I play MW2 Works like a charm.
