Quest complete!

Finally, I'm getting this quest done.
Also, I've been meaning to start up a blog here for a while now. No time like the present, or so they tell me.

So I guess I'll start off with a little bit about me. I work at a video rental store where one of the perks is that I can rent games and movies before they come out, as long as we've got them in. Normally, we don't get many games in earlier than the night before their release date, but lately we've been getting more games sooner. That's great for me, because I get to play games that aren't out yet and write about them. I'm not under any embargoes or anything, am I? Hopefully the bomb squad won't get into trouble because of me.

I just finished my review of Alpha Protocol. I'll just say this: I'm so glad to be done with that game. Making it all the worse was my copy of Red Dead Redemption staring me down the whole time I was playing Alpha Protocol. Beckoning me. Review should be up tomorrow.

Still playing the five--I mean six games in the Humble Indie Bundle. It is, as they say, a mixed bag.
World of Goo is immaculate, as you probably are aware. This was my first time playing it, and I was immediately taken by its sheer cuteness. When I finished the game, I looked down and my socks were gone, blown straight off. I was familiar with the concept, having played the proof of concept, Tower of Goo, on ExperimentalGameplay.com. If you for some reason are like I was and haven't checked this game out, do yourself a favor. The game's mix of humor, physics based puzzles and cute is a potent one.
I just finished Samarost 2, a latecomer to the bundle. It's relatively short, but charming as all hell. Flash-based point and click adventure style games don't get much better than this, in my experience. Full of otherworldly creatures and funny situations, it's worth a look. There's a demo available for free here.
I haven't played much of Gish or Aquaria, the former making my weak ass netbook chug and the latter being drowned (get it?) out by bigger, more domineering titles. Gish seems like a cool little side-scrolling platformer, but for some reason I can't seem to get the hang of it. Something about the physics of jumping...I'm planning on giving it another shot sometime in the future, but for now it's on the virtual shelf. Same with Aquaria. I want to play it some more to get a better feel for it, but I've got other games to play.
Lugaru seems to be a little over-rated. It's a cool premise, I guess. Playing as a rabbit, punching other rabbits. Maybe I'm just bad at it, but it's pretty unforgiving and it seems like another kinda janky third person beat-em-up. I like the jumping, though. You can jump real high.
Penumbra Overture won't work on my netbook, for some reason. It's a shame, because I'm intrigued by it perhaps more than any other of the games in this bundle. I don't know anything about it, but it seems like a kind of Myst-esque first person puzzle adventure type game. Bummer.
