I was waiting for the PC port that's probably never going to happen and now I've no motivation to buy it on PS4.

Coming as someone who's sole reason to play the game was to have fun with my friends who all also bought it, the character unlock progression 'feature' was an unnecessary hurdle for my needs. Some may argue this but fundamentally Smash Bros is to me a multiplayer fighting/party game and while having good single player modes and aspects to the game is nice, it should never be the focus. It's a little naive to think that the majority of the player-base is going to put as much time into playing by themselves compared to playing multiplayer online or locally. I get that at worst it's more an inconvenience than game breaking but there are lots of solutions mentioned here and other places that would have made more of the fans happier than what was done.

Either way at least this is more of a temporary problem once you actually get round to having the whole cast playable but really it shouldn't have been a problem from the start.

There isn't a particularly definite answer for me but if I had to go with one over the others it'd be the gameplay. Most of the types of games I'm playing at the moment aren't hugely dependent on needing an engaging story for me and on the graphics side I care more about a game having a good and appropriate art style that is fitting for it and I like personally, the clarity and level of detail isn't something I worry about as long as it's "good enough".

The main draw of gaming for me was being in control of what I was seeing on the TV as opposed to watching a movie or show, my appreciation for good storytelling and graphic fidelity in games came about later.

As a fan of Formula 1 the idea of supporting via geographical location isn't much of a factor. The closest you'll see with that is on driver nationalities but lots of people that follow F1 will support drivers/teams for a large variety of reasons other than location as well as just enjoying F1 for the sport it is.

When it's international competition like the World Cup or the Olympics then seeing how your particular nation fairs is more of a factor and I don't think I would really understand anyone choosing a different country unless they had dual nationality or family in other countries. I typically see a few people during a world cup talking up one of the tournament favourites as their own team that they always support and while some of them will probably have a understandable reason for doing so, it's hard from the outside to see it as anything other than jumping on a bandwagon.

I'll go as far as I find other people's opinions on games interesting to read, with the preface of those opinions been explained well and not just "I just don't like it so there". Even if someone goes completely against something I find very good I would still be willing to at least try and understand where they are coming from and I find it genuinely interesting the variety of aspects people look for in what games they like.

I think as long as you understand the context to why someone likes/dislikes a game then it is still useful to yourself as a way to know what kind of game it'll be even if you end up having a different opinion on it.

I'm on 148 but I'd say only a handful are being regularly played at the moment. Still if I'm ever feeling in the mood to try something I haven't played for a while I have a lot to fall back on.
