is it just me or, installing games makes them unplayable?

I recently decided to install some game in my hard drive to see if they load faster and run better, but of the games that I installed it's pretty much the same, or worse...

I installed GTA IV and played it, the game certainly loaded a bit faster, but while playing the game.... there were a lot, and I mean a whole fucking lot of texture pop-in problems, I was just walking around the city and all out of nothing a fucking building appears in front of me, then I decided to drive a bit and the street all of a sudden disappears and I was just driving oveer, well, nothing! also when I want to use the phone it actually takes like 6 seconds to appear after I press the d-pad :/ after all the texture pop-in issues I saw in the game and decided to uninstall it.

I also installed gears of war 2 and got the same problem, not as bad as in gta iv though, but still there were some texture pop-in issues here and there.

also installed viva piñata, dead rising, devil may cry 4, and the darkness, it was all pretty much the same, I don't really feel that installing games in the hard drive is effective at all when I play them, some load a bit faster but nothing to get impressed about...

what do you guys think about installing games in the hdd?
