@fezrock: I got an intense King of Dragon Pass vibe from this game, and clearly I wasn't alone. I love the idea of a modern strategy game that takes inspiration from KoDP, but this does not seem like what I'm looking for.
In terms of games that have been rendered physically impossible to play, RIP Star Chamber.
It was a CCG, so it might be understandable that you can't play the multiplayer anymore, but it also had fully developed single player campaigns which are now completely inaccessible.
I like Rorie, and I particularly appreciate that his taste in games covers some different territory compared to the rest of the staff (like CRPG & strategy stuff).
But is GB actually paying him? The poor man is buying bread for lunch and the second cheapest whiskey for his dog parties!
I love Into the Breach, and I'm glad the GB crew loves it, but it's so hard to watch people play puzzle-type games and be comfortable with all the moves they're missing.
I was a Peace Corps volunteer for 2 years in rural Azerbaijan. I had electricity (usually), dial-up internet (sometimes), but no running water. It was relatively easy to get by without running water, but no electricity would have forced me to become a vegan, since modern meat and dairy products generally require a fridge.
I fetched water from a nearby spring every couple of days and then filtered and boiled it for drinking, teeth-brushing, and a weekly sponge bath. I pooped in a shack in the yard that had a hole in the ground. It wasn't a great life but it also wasn't a bad life.
The winters were long and boring but Civ 5 got me through them, so yeah, I'll take the electricity.
