@alex I work at a hedge fund. (We invest exclusively in European structured credit and don't short stocks -- we have been content to watch the GameStop excitement from the sidelines).

Our three largest investors are the public pensions of two US states and one Canadian province. I don't know who Melvin's investors are, but I assume that many of them are also institutional investors like public pensions. I just wanted to point out that situations like GameStop aren't necessarily black-and-white cases of millionaires losing money and normal people making money. The losses suffered by those hedge funds will ultimately get passed along to teachers, firefighters, and their various other end investors (who hopefully made some money trading GameStop on RobinHood to make up for the hit their pensions took by investing in hedge funds who were shorting the stock).

I love playing my Switch on the train, but it's caused me to miss my stop on the way home more times than I can count. My subway stop in Brooklyn is the last underground stop before the train starts running on elevated tracks outside. I know that if I see daylight, I fucked up.

@benpack I yerb every day! The bodega on my corner orders 7 cans of Guayaki's Orange Exuberance every week just for me.

I think maybe the reason the game wouldn't let them shoot that guy by the river is because he's not an adult?

I've been a fan of the AoW series since the first one came out 20 years ago. I like the games a lot, but it always felt like the unit balance and combat mechanics needed some tweaking. Many Tier 3 units were able to wipe out entire stacks of Tier 1 units without taking any damage -- I always wished the game's designers could have figured out how to keep Tier 1 units relevant throughout the entire game. The diversity of units and their abilities always seemed cool initially, but they all became irrelevant once you leveled your hero into an unstoppable death machine.

I haven't played Planetfall yet (I wish I could play it on the subway on my Switch!), but I'm hoping Triumph has finally figured out a way to incentivize the player to use a variety of units instead of just multiple stacks of Tier 3 stuff.

I walked past @ybbaaabby in Cobble Hill a few months ago but I didn't say hi, for a couple reasons:

1) I served in the Peace Corps for two years in Azerbaijan. Because there is so little tourism in that country, I stood out like a sore thumb. People (mostly teenagers and kids) would shout stuff (mostly random English phrases, sometimes curse words) at me whenever they saw me walking around out in public. The unwanted attention was constant and weighed pretty heavily on my mind -- sometimes you just want to go to the market and buy some vegetables without random people shouting at you. Knowing what that felt like has made me think twice before bothering people I don't know in public.

2) I was wearing my 8-month old baby while shepherding my two toddlers across a busy street so tbh it felt like the timing wasn't ideal.

Anyway, Abby, I hope you had fun in Cobble Hill! I've lived there for almost a decade and think it's the coolest neighborhood in Brooklyn, as long as we're using a really loose definition of "cool" that includes everyone being in their mid 30s with at least 3 kids.

My wife took me to Sleep No More but didn't tell me anything about what it was going to be ahead of time. I got pushed out of that elevator and had no f'ing clue where I was or what was happening. It was amazing. Anyone who lives near or visits NYC should definitely see it.
