As someone who has watched someone else play the game like 30 times over the past 12 or so years, and has finally gotten to play it for himself now, for anyone new to this glorious experience, here's some tips:

1: Shipping containers, those temp half-cylinder building things, and sometimes vehicles, can have ammo, health, or sometimes even secret weapons inside them. The weapons are usually in special smaller crates, I think, but are stuffed in with a bunch of others. Dan ran super low on ammo at the end there, while I've never really even come close to it because I destroy all the things.

2: The circle bar filling up at the top right is your Special Attack (Ultimate / Burst / Whatever). Dunno on a controller, but if you hit F on keyboard you pull out every single weapon you have equipped, yell out "How do you like me now?!" and fire them all for about 5 seconds. It's glorious damage and all-around real dumb and good.

3: The vertical bar is your energy for boosting or charging weapons that use it. Boosting can also overheat and start draining shields. Shields are the horizontal bar, and when that goes you can lose your health pips.

4: Jump up and use the ground slam attack. I use that almost as much as my weapons. It's fantastic. You can take out most lighter vehicles and scenery with a well placed stomp. It also saves on ammo!

5: If you jump and tap the boost repeatedly you can go a bit further before running low on energy. If you stand still and hold boost, you'll go straight up, and can then tap forward to boost over higher walls and stuff.

6: The statue in the first mission is Michael's father, who I think appears in a Ninja Gaiden game? Anyway, shoot the statue. A lot. Keep doing it. Seriously don't stop. Then use the stationary vertical boost to get up there.

7: Prisoners are what raise your Economy / Science score, which I think let you research better weapons and get more money/metal? Musicians unlock music. Don't stomp on the cages. I forgot that last bit once. Also sometimes they drop stuff for you.

8: You can replay any mission to grind for money/metal, or to find prisoners and stuff you missed. You need money to research weapons, and both money and metal to build them.

9: Health... pods? will upgrade your mech whenever you get a certain amount of them. I think it happens automatically?

10: The scores at the end are... difficult if you just do the mission. Some of them require farming the infantry spawners to get good scores on. I'd ignore them the first run.

11: The most important tip of all, however, is this: No matter what, BELIEVE IN YOUR JUSTICE!

I find all the complaints about the eating amusing, especially because "We're BACK and we're EATING FOOD into the mic." is just... right there. Right under the title. Right next to the play... window... thing. For everyone to see. Right in the open.

Also Lockdown is the best and I love it every single time E3 comes around.

Also x2, RIP Brad.

@lemonadepack: I happen to be a backer of Iron Harvest!

I extremely hope Iron Harvest turns out to be good. I've always found the concept to be awesome.

Oh wow. no campaign for a BLOPS? This whole thing sounds like a cautionary tale of chasing metrics to decide your future instead of innovating. What a joke.

I haven't been following the game closely so I had no idea about not having a campaign until now, and...wow...that's...that's definitely a choice they made I guess. Well, it saves me a future $30-40 sale price.

That thread was so damn fun every single time it showed up. Still makes me laugh.

Also this mailbag was incredible for many different reasons.

WHAT DID YOU DO! erm YOU DID IT!

Love it every time.

OMFG, I forgot about that and it scared the crap outta me; no exaggeration I did jump about half an inch off my seat. Cracked me up though, as I watched the confetti fall and listened to the smart assery. I love this place and these people.

Honestly that's the thing I look forward to the most whenever I renew. Such a good audio clip.

As soon as she said Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood I knew it was either that scene or when they meet for the first time and have a flex-off.

Also Black Lagoon is indeed fantastic (and my favorite anime because the church shootout is the best scene ever), and I should probably watch My Hero Academia sometime.

Among everything else, this was easily my biggest highlight of E3.

I've wanted to play this for so long.

HOW DO YOU LIKE ME NOW?!

I still watch some #WEED3 clips every now and then because that whole bit/conference was so funny.

These vlogs are great!

Unpopular opinion: I loved Mercenaries 2. Granted, I think part of it was because of all the B-game jank (I have a well-documented love for shabby games).

I know the video and comment are almost a month old but I just want to say that I also loved Mercenaries 2. It was my favorite game for a good long while mostly because it was a sequel to the first game. I was (and still am) destroyed that EA killed off Pandemic. I wanted (and still want) to play a third one so much.

Also thanks to this video I just now found out that Mercs 1 is backwards compatible so I'm going to have to get that next time I get to my X1.
