@shiztoid: So go to school, go to church, go to prison, go to work, go to carnivale, go to bed -- are those fine and dandy, but go to hospital is the worst?
If that's what you meant, I don't get it, my man. If anything, go to the hospital makes less sense because it makes it sound like there's only one they could be admitted to. "I need to go/went to a hospital," is fine, but a bit formal, and so unlike those other phrases we say constantly that I mentioned.
Poor writing, even worse voice acting, utterly unoriginal vision of the future, and ridiculous animations, but I can't pretend the premise itself isn't appealing, despite some obvious inspiration from certain Asimov works. I also love the look and music.
Certainly not a day-one purchase, but, I dunno... Seems like it could get going and win me round.
I admire Alex for not ragging on this game's blatant janky edges, few and far between as they are. He's clearly digging the lore and "ooh, space" aspect enough to cut it some slack, because it's still a classic.
However, I would be totally okay with Vinny looking up the better planets to land on, and which ones are just bland shooting galleries/excuses for fetch quests, and avoid those. Maybe that is against the spirit, but there's a lot of rough stuff amid the occasionally quite cool, Star Trek-ass side content. I think that would be an unpopular decision, but just something to ponder maybe?
I just realized the Elcor sound like Eeyore. Their names are even similar!
I've been dreaming of this series ever since Breaking Brad: Demon's Souls with Brad and Vinny. The knowledgeable fan of a game guiding a newbie to a franchise is the most solid of formulae; so glad it's finally gracing our presence. I knew Alex would end up enjoying it on some level.
I might have to accumulate a few episodes like someone else suggested if I want to be calm, though. The wait is killing me.
Def Samurai Champloo. It's a great pallet cleanser, anime-wise: 26 episodes long; Japanese hip-hop soundtrack; beatboxing/record scratching scene transitions; a small but likable cast who bounce off each other entertainingly; and a pretty interesting story. It looks great, too. Nice flow to the fighting and rich in colour.
It's not just a good anime, it's a good television show period. I watched it in Japanese, though, so I have no idea if the English VA is terrible.
@north6: No, you were right to call me out on that, man, I totally thought weed brownies were safer. It might be true in some ways, but I won't blurt it out like it's a trivial fact next time. Thanks for letting me know!
@north6: No shit? I thought it was totally better when you didn't inhale the smoke. Not carcinogenic-wise, but lung-wise. Good to know, even if I'll never do it. I think I meant you get the buzz, but don't force others to breathe your shit.
