I know it's subjective, but people saying this is the worst gen and the people saying this is the best gen seem equally crazy to me. There are some good games so it's not awful, but no game this gen is on the level as Last of Us, Mass Effect trilogy, Red Dead, and so on, so I don't know how this would be the best gen. Both sides seem too hyperbolic and lack perspective.

I'm in a similar boat to the OP. I like the show and I watch it every week, but I don't think it deserves the ridiculous amount of praise it's getting, and the fans who revere everything that Dan Harmon touches are pretty insufferable; No, I do not need you to condescendingly explain to me why you think the show is so layered and smart, and I find it especially ironic that you think I'm the idiot for not completely buying into it.

Anyway it's a good show, there's plenty of great jokes and it's entertaining that they're so aware of themselves and watching them mess with the viewers, but it's not the game changer that people make it out to be, and I agree that it seems lazy to dip into every contentious pop culture psychological issue without ever really properly engaging with it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

*shrug*

Yeah, I like the show but it seems like so many people online act like it's the first adult cartoon ever or easily the best one ever. Obviously it's subjective, but I think the show has plenty of cartoons that are equal or better (Venture Bros, Bob's Burgers, Futurama, Archer, Bojack Horseman, South Park, etc). I don't think it's easily the Michael Jordan or GOAT of cartoons. I do think it can make people feel smart due to the sci-fi concepts and/or people identifying with Rick, which is another reason it gets so hyped up. It's a good show, but I think they lost themselves a bit this season, since plenty of people do want sci-fi adventures, so they need to work on their balancing.

I'd like to see more, but I only like Bioshock, I don't love it. I think the first and third games had limp endings. I appreciate their settings and attempts at telling an interesting story though. I don't look at the series as something sacred. Any good dev could bring it back. It's more about the publisher giving them freedom.

It doesn't really matter since the campaign is super easy and powers aren't that prevalent. For bosses, which are really only in strikes, it's heavy weapons that are going to kill them. Being able to heal as a warlock is nice, but not major.

@turambar: I think only GRRM himself could say that. If he has feel free to link it since that sounds like an interesting read.

@deathstriker: Arguing for cultural relativism when the thing at hand is a piece of media designed to be experienced through the lens of modern cultural sensibilities doesn't really work.

I think you're supposed to look at storytelling from multiple point of views. Like with Dany burning the Tarlys, I see it from her POV, but I get where Tyrion is coming from. In the real world she would be evil for killing her prisoners/captives, but I'm choosing to see it from Dany's POV, so I was fine with the action since they were dumbasses for choosing to die and betraying their wardens. The same goes for Jon and Dany getting together. I'd like to see it since I like them and it would be interesting to see how it plays out, but obviously in the real world I wouldn't want to see incest. Just about all of us would be against an aunt and nephew hooking up, so I have to disagree with you. We look at somethings from their lens and we look at somethings from ours. Arya (a little girl) killing folks is another example of looking at it in their world.

Another poster mentioned "rape town", I don't want to get dragged into all of that, but I'd have to agree that Gendry being raped by Mel is pretty silly. She did something bad to him, but it was after they had sex. If it was supposed to be rape I think the show is good enough, especially back then, to make that a point and drive it home. Gendry was upset that his family (Stannis) wanted to use and kill him like he was nothing and Davos seemed to lose respect for Stannis for that too, neither of their problem was that Gendry got raped because that never happened.

EA should alternate yearly between BF/Battlefront/Titfanfall like Microsoft does with Halo and Gears. Like I said in the thread I made, releasing BF1 so close to this game was really dumb, since they're making people choose between two of their games - BF is a way more popular/established franchise and consumes time. Having two time consuming FPS a week a part was idiotic. I'll play it in December when BF1 and other games are taking up less of my time.

No, two very different multiplayer shooters really. Have to admit I'm liking what I see of Titanfall 2, it'll probably replace Call of Duty this year for my quick paced shooter needs. I liked the original but for the absolute lack of content throughout.

At the end of the day all three games (Titanfall, COD, and BF) are all online competitive shooters that fill the same void for most people. Gears is outside of that since it is 3rd person, people actually play and care about its campaign, and other modes like horde. I've never thought to myself "oh, I'll get a fast shooter and a slower more open one because those are two very different things". It's still looking down the sights of a gun and try to kill people before they get you. Of course, there are some differences (like BF actually needs teamwork), but I think they fill the same void.

TF2 came out almost 10 years ago.

I knew someone might get uptight about that abbreviation for Titanfall 2, so what's the proper/common one for this game? Obviously I'm not talking about Team Fortress 2.
