Do you think there will be $350 PS4 Pros when GOW comes out or a $400 bundle of the console with the game? I'm tempted to buy one right now off Amazon for $350 and do 6 months no interest, but I have an X1, so the only games I'd really have to play on it until GOW comes out is Uncharted, Infamous, and Until Dawn - none of which I'm dying to play.

It's the 2018 games like GOW, TLOU 2, and Spiderman I'd rather play. I'm fine getting a PS4 Pro in March (or whenever God of War comes out), I'm just not sure how great or rare the deal right now is. Any advice?

@bisonhero: That was a good surprise, probably their only good one. For me, if someone said Thor's mom dies, Nick Fury is really alive, Robert Redford is the bad guy, etc I wouldn't have cared at all and it wouldn't have been big deal.

I'll check it out sooner or later. It definitely seems like they tried with this Thor movie, since the first one was average at best and second was bad, probably the worst in MCU. I think Hemsworth knew that which is why he kept floating the idea that he might leave, but from interviews and stuff he seemed like he had fun with this one.

I'm not sure if you can actually spoil a Marvel movie, they're not about twists or surprises. Most people can probably guess the whole movie from their trailers. Outside of Cap 2, Civil War, and Dr Strange they're all kinda just nice fun dumb rides, which isn't a bad thing from a blockbuster.

Between YouTube and podcasts taking over it has felt like most gaming sites were going to die the last several years. It sucks for those workers but has happened before, kinda like the internet hurting newspaper sells.

@pyrodactyl: Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. I bought D1 and quickly regretted it, since it was a small amount of content in a loop over and over, plus the loot system sucked until they patched it. I rented D2 for a few weeks and had a good time. I wasn't going to buy it due to my experience with the first one. D2 actually has a story, more content, and you have to replay content way less. In hindsight, I'd buy D2 over D1 in a heartbeat, but neither game is nothing special or fantastic.

It's better than D1, which wasn't even worth $60. I think the problem is the devs and hardcore fans act like it's some platform or an actual MMO that's fun for months when it's really a loot shooter that's fun for 2 or 3 weeks like Borderlands. Buying a shooter and expecting the PVE to entertain for months isn't realistic IMO. I've yet to see a shooter do that ever.

@zevvion: That's an assumption, just because something was popular doesn't mean it has to come back. Cowboy movies have been dead since the 70s and that genre has never really made a comeback and I doubt it ever will. The games we're talking about will probably fair better, but I don't see them making a full on comeback anytime soon. Also, they're dying more because studios can make more money off multiplayer or open world games due to DLC and lootboxes. It's not because we started to dislike these types of games.

@sloppydetective: Wolfenstien and Doom didn't do much for me. I loved Titanfall 2's campaign but it's not very story heavy. The different gameplay elements they'd introdice each level (teleporting, time travel, etc) is what stood out to me. They threw the kitchen sink in the gameplay in a good way.

Mass Effect 1 to 3 is pretty linear. The citadel and other hub worlds are the only places you can wander around openly. If you're doing a mission you're probably going from point a to point b in some base. The freedom it has is more of an illusion.

With God of War and TLAU 2 coming there is some stuff on the way, but these types of games are dying. Certain types of games like DMC and Ninja Gaiden were also great to me, but they're mostly gone now too.

@sarahsdad: Dying Light's base games was boring to me, but I like the dune buggy DLC, it's pretty good. Dying Light isn't a 2017 game though.

@zevvion: Where gaming is going is bit worrisome. Other than Naughty Dog there really hasn't been any great singleplayer story based linear experiences the last several years. With the Vicersal and Star Wars news this week it sounds like studios are running from games like Bioshock, TLAU, Mass Effect 1 to 3, and so on. Those are some of my favorite games and there's a reason to be worried about them. I don't want everything or even most things to be open world (Zelda, Shadow of War), loot based (Destiny), or multiplayer only (Overwatch).
