Clarification: You can totally fast travel to town centers in Origins. The first time I did it I didn't know you could, but hit the fast travel command, ended up on the ground in a market, and nearly shit my pants because I wasn't on top of a tower. It was no "end of KOTOR" or "Would you kindly" moment, but it made an impression me for sure.
I love Phil Kessel and, as a Leafs fan, think he deserved far better treatment from them on his way out. Also, there’s a simply amazing GIF that I’m not sure how to properly link to here of Phil and his teammates going through what I think is fitness testing using stationary bikes. I don’t want to spoil it, so if you’re curious and/or need a good laugh from an honest-to-god professional athlete, Google “Phil Kessel Stationary Bike” and enjoy.
While watching this, Chris Plante of Polygon retweeted, back-to-back, reviews from two different sources with vastly different conclusions. I think that's great! One took issue with the game's structure and how it fails to integrate the 8 character's stories, something alluded to in the QL but Dan admitted he hadn't seen every chapter yet. And I I honestly think it's a bummer. But the second reviewer admitted that when it comes to JRPGs, he's more interested in battle and other systems and this had him hooked. I hope this serves as an illuminating example of how individual expectations and preferences color every review, and differing opinions aren't inherently "wrong."
Having played essentially 4 Chapter Ones across the two demos, I'm both very excited to spend a bunch more time playing with this battle system and the Path Actions and Skills, but also wish the story was more cohesive than it apparently is. Maybe in a sequel? Nonopath Traveler?
@hidamari: I caught the "not used to fighting a dude" line but missed the Merry-Go-Brown, so all I could think of was "Is this an even lazier Chris Brown joke than I expect from this?" Glad to see it's exactly as lazy as I expect from this piece of shit.
I'll admit I haven't watched ROF before because I'm bad at fighting games; while I can enjoy watching people who are better play, I mostly get my fill of that from UPF and when something like SFV comes out and we get Quick Looks and the like. But damn if I don't have a soft spot for Fighter's Destiny. That was the "palate cleanser" for my friends and I after long sessions of Resident Evil 2 or Final Fantasy VII - we'd swap out the PS2 and decompress with some of FD, and I might even occasionally win a round.
In 17 seasons and the start of this year, there have been 122 home runs hit from AT&T Park into McCovey Cove = 77 by the Giants (35 by barry Bonds alone) and 45 by visitors. There's a board that tracks the home team hits.
There’s a point around the 12-13 minute mark where Jason yells “Get out of there!” in just such a way that my brain immediately followed up with “Your bars is low!” and I absolutely want a Snoop announcer pack for this game. Yes I know there isn’t an announcer.
