Really quite annoyed by this. Yes I got FIFA with my XB1, but only because the Forza bundle was gone before I even knew about it, not through choice (I couldn't give a shit about FIFA - haven't even downloaded it yet). Including a game I actually want makes it feel more like an £75 drop to me :-(

@darji: In May? Before they'd announced the price?

Here's a more recent article (the first google hit I found) with "quotes" (though not really) from Sony execs:

@extomar: Forgive me for daring to enjoy Forza as it is/was without ever being bothered or tempted by the microtransactions. My bad.

But regardless of the merits of individual games, in general I was keen on the all-digital future that the XBOne originally promised (with the option to bypass the downloading and the always-full-price online store by buying discs). Throwing that out feels like a step backwards to me.

@extomar: Eh? I'd have bought the Forza disc for the same as I just paid for it, installed it, and never looked at it again. Sounds great to me.

From my own personal, selfish point of view, I wish they'd kept the original "steam-like" scheme. Put your discs away after installing? Yes please.

I understand why it wouldn't work as originally described in all circumstances, but it seems that those could have been accommodated (e.g. a steam-like offline mode, or no online check if the disc was inserted) without throwing the entire scheme out

Because it would cost $10,000+ (gulp)

That Rivendell is fantastic though :-)
