Overview
The only playable Sword Knight in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. He's first seen in Chapter 14.
Although a knight from Begnion, Makalov is a notoriously lazy and irresponsible man with a penchant toward gambling. Consistently in debt to the likes of pirates and smugglers, he does little to alleviate his problems beyond begging and running away. His well-being and his debt collectors are a constant source of worry for his sister Marcia.
The player encounters Makalov in the company of the smugglers he is indebted to. He is forced into their ranks and will fight the player alongside the criminals unless given a stern talking-to by his sister, in which case he will find himself pressed into the service of Ike's mercenaries instead.
Typically shameless, he eventually expresses some remorse over his behavior after nearly pawning Astrid's family pendant for more gambling money. When met with her forgiveness, he can't help but feel touched. This leads him to desire turning over a new leaf, though his laziness seems to hold fast.
