Kay is first introduced to Miles Edgeworth on the day he investigated his first case. Although they parted ways afterward, they meet again when Edgeworth is kidnapped (although Edgeworth does not initially realize who she is). By this time, she calls herself the "Great Thief Yatagarasu", believing she is carrying on the work of her predecessor, who recently passed the title to her.
Kay carries with her a device she calls Little Thief. Although its intended use is to help thieves plan their heists, Kay allows it to be used to help Edgeworth in his investigations by recreating crime scenes.
