not giving Activision any of my money, guess Reach will be the last bungie game I buy new. I'll get a second hand copy if they release a good game but I'm not supporting a company like Activision
Some of you guys really don't understand how the industry works. It's a minor miracle that Microsoft allowed Bungie to buy itself back from them. I can't think of another example of a developer winning back its independence once sold to a publisher. And there's no chance Microsoft would let them walk away with Halo. That's like Nintendo letting someone walk out of the company with Mario.

They walked away from Halo three years ago when they negotiated their separation from Microsoft. Because they didn't want to have to make Halo games for the rest of their lives.
It bears repeating: that Bungie only had a couple more Halo games in them is three year old news.

Don't be ridiculous. My anger is focused on them signing up with Fraktavision. Not the end of the Halo series. They'll probably be running back to Halo before long after Frakkavision finds a way to fuck'em over. hoo-hah!
I just hope that they don't force us to buy more plastic crap in order to play the games. At least with RIDE we were missing out on a bad game... with Bungie we'd be missing out on a good game.
@thecleric: they are not going to be owned by activision, just have their games made by them, like actually make the disc, and pay for the development. its kinda of like ea and valve, ea doesnt own them or their games.
Though to everyone thinking about Halo on multiple platforms, no. As soon as Bungie breaks ties with Microsoft, they lose all rights to make Halo games. Never going to happen. I'm excited to finally see Bungie do something new though.
where is the money? how much money did Activision hemorrhage in order to get the publishing rights for Bungie? How much more money did they have to throw at Bungie once Bungie got word of what happened to Infinity Ward?
Of all the Devil's I expected Bungie to sell their souls to, this is the very bottom of the pile. I wonder (secretly wish?) that part of this deal includes a small clause that Bungie does at least one Call of Duty game at some point dyuring their 10 year sentence.
Ugh, this is just so bitter-sweet. I wouldn't mind being able to play Bungie games on a Sony or even a Nintendo console, but on the other hand I want Activision to DIE A PAINFUL DEATH!
@lead_farmer: well if you think about it Halo lasted roughly ten years. Bungie must be planning a franchise that will be running along a similar timeline in terms of when games will be released
Well it now seems that the deal was nine months in the making so It was in progress before the whole IW thing. here's a quote from Bungie president Harold Ryan "We chose to partner with Activision on our next IP because of their global reach, multi-platform experience and marketing expertise.
"From working together over the past nine months on this agreement, it is clear that Activision supports our commitment to giving our fans the best possible gaming experiences."
I guess the guys at IW got wind of it and thought WTF is going on here, no surprise really to what followed, but I am surprised that bungie still feel good about this deal now knowing how it all went down with IW.. maybe that was their plan.
So...they want freedom and leave Microsoft...amid their leaving hacks like those at FASA claim but but the microsoft is evil and restrictive look what they did to us, we fought for bungies independence...and then Bungie inks a 10 year deal giving Activision any property rights to games they publish...and its preferable? lol
