Wii Speak which was announced at E3 2008, allows users to chat with fellow gamers online. It's more of a speaker than a headset which allows group of people in a room to chat with other people or groups. The only game shown at E3 2008 that was confirmed to use it was Animal Crossing: City Folk, which showed four people having a fishing contest and in the video you hear people talking to each other. It is meant to solve the problem of there being no voice chat in the Wii's online games. Though other games haven't been confirmed yet, its most likely that third party developers are going to taking advantage of Wii Speak to allow voice chat in online games. There is also the possibility that it will be used as a part of single player gameplay, similar to how the microphone on the Nintendo DS was used.
