Whacka is a character from the Paper Mario series. Whackas are an endangered species, although the one seen in the games is said to be the only one left alive. The Whackas are in such trouble because when hit on the head, they release a Whacka Bump, a tasty pastry delicacy which restores much of the user's health and magical abilities. Despite their endangerment and the treatment they receive Whackas are actually very cheerful and mildly naive types. They show very little fear of strangers and are often in high spirits until they get hit on the head. If hit on the head too many times a Whacka will start to show signs of head injuries and will eventually burrow underground permanently, never to be seen again.
