A kingdom in southwestern Jugdral, it was founded around the same time that Emperor Galle was killed. A relatively anarchic land, Verdane has spent most of it's history raiding it's neighbors Grandbell and Agustria, earning a reputation as kingdom of barbarians and savages. When the Grandbell army went to defend Darna, Verdane used the opportunity to invade Grandbell, and rob the land.

Batou
The king of Verndane, he wished to change the reputation of his people, and formed an alliance with Grandbell and Agustria. This alliance lasted for many years, however, the Dark Mage Sandima had convinced him that Grandbell was preparing to invade his lands, so Batou launched a preemptive strike against them. Of course, Sandima was just using Batou, so when Lord Sigurd struck back, Sandima murdered Batou. As he died, Batou apologized for his aggression, and warned Sigurd about the power of the Loptous Cult.
The eldest son of Batou, Gandolf was a violent man who wanted all of Grandbell. When his father ordered him to invade Grandbell, Gandolf took his men and invaded the western duchy of Jungby. When his men were taking too long to do the job, Gandolf stepped in and defeated the Jungby army alone. After taking Lady Adean as his prisoner, Gandolf returned to his castle and left his men to finish the job. When Lord Sigurd arrived in Verdane, Gandolf fought him at Marpha Castle and died in the process.
The second son of Batou, Kinbois is the lord of Genoa Castle. When his father ordered the invasion of Grandbell, Kinbois took Prince Shanan of Isaac hostage, and forced his aunt Ira to fight in his army. Afraid of being against Ira, Kinbois led his men into battle against Sigurd, but was soundly defeated.
The third son of Batou, Jamka was strongly opposed to the idea of invading Grandbell. When he saw Adean being held captive in Marpha Castle, he helped her escape, and then left to confront his father about the war. When he arrived at the castle, Sandima and Batou ordered him to fight against Sigurd, and avenge his brothers. Jamka angrily complied, and left for battle. As he header for battle, he met Adean, and she convinced him to switch sides against Sandima. After Batou died, Jamka remained in Sigurd's army to get revenge on the group responsible for his fathers death.
A wandering thief, he made Verdane his base of operations. A consistent thorn in the sides of the army, Dew has been arrested on many occasions. When Gandolf finally arrested Dew, he was ready to execute him, but spared him at Adean's request. Thankful for his life, Dew helped Adean escape from Gandolf, and swore off being a thief. With no where else to go, Dew joined Sigurd's army.
Cigyun
A descendant of Prince Maira, she lived alone in the Spirit Forest of Verdane because of her Loptous blood. Tired of being alone, she went out into the world and married Duke Victor of Velthomer and had a son. However, the duke was a womanizer, and often left Cigyun for his mistresses. One day, Cigyun had an affair with Prince Kurth of Barhara, which was discovered by Victor. In his rage, the duke denounced both Kurth and Cigyun, and committed suicide. Disturbed by the scandal, Cigyun left Velthomer and returned to the Spirit Forest. A few months later she gave birth, and passed away shortly after.
The daughter of Cigyun and Kurth, she was raised in the Spirit Forest. When Verdane invaded Grandbell, Diadora was taken by Gandolf's men and imprisoned in the castle. After Gandolf died, the castle fell into chaos and one of Gandolf's men assaulted Diadora, however, in the nick of time Sigurd attacked the man and saved her honor. She ran away in fright, but couldn't Sigurd out of her head, and tracked him down to the Spirit Forest. Smitten, she admitted her feelings and the two were later wed. As she traveled with Sigurd, she gave birth to his son Celice, but was kidnapped a few months later by Manfroy. Manfroy had her memory wiped, and arranged for her to marry Duke Alvis. She later gave birth to twins Yurius and Yuria. When Yurius was later posessed by Loptous, he murdered Diadora after she sent Yuria away. Her ghost later visits Celice with Sigurd's, and together they complement their son.
Gerrard
A subordinate of Gandolf, he commands Evans castle on the border with Grandbell. When Gandolf kidnapped Adean, he left Gerrard to defend the border against Sigurd. Despite his efforts, he was killed in battle against Sigurd's army.
DiMaggio
A subordinate of Gandolf, he commands the occupied Jungby castle in Grandbell. When Gandolf returned to Verdane, DiMaggio organized the attack on Chalphy Castle, but was defeated by Sigurd's army.
Lady of the Lake
A mysterious woman living in the Spirit Forest, she values honesty above all. When Lex dropped his axe in the lake, she offered him a gold or a silver axe. Lex admitted that he had a plain iron axe, and she rewarded him with a Hero's Axe. Somehow she knew his name...
Fire Emblem: Awakening
In Fire Emblem: Awakening, Verdane appears as the setting of the King vs King DLC series with Grandbell.
