Learn to put up with X or accept Y. That seems to be the general vibe at the wrap-up of the video above. However it can't help but get me to thinking. They've forgotten the inevitable third option. "Just quit playing games". Which is sadly the path I've mostly had to take. I'm not a person for whom impulse control is an easy choice. It's my greatest failing and I'm aware of it and I try to cont...

The Year of the Loot Box was the one that finally got me to set aside gaming as my main hobby. So gold-star to you, Games Industry. You managed to turn away a gamer who's been a fan since the 70's! Kudos! The few games I did play were pretty good, I will admit. Mostly stuff bought for my new Switch console which I picked up about 4 months ago. Here's my truncated & mostly Loot Box free list of...

Full Size version can be found on my Deviant Art page here: http://zzombiexiii.deviantart.com/art/Disney-s-MST3K-677440420 In the new season of MST3K on Netflix, Kinga Forrester longs to sell-out the show to Disney. Which got me to wondering, what would that look like? Clearly, I had no choice but to draw it. Kinga is modeled after Belle Jonah is modeled after Lefou Crow T Robot is modeled afte...

I've always been a Star Wars fan. Literally. As in, I do not recall a time before I loved the movies. Of course, I'm 45 years old. I saw the first film when I was 5 years old in 1977, so my experience may be a bit different than many of you who grew up watching them on home video, but if you're a fan you know what it means to have gone through the good times (Original Trilogy era), the dark tim...

I know I played plenty of games this year, but it feels like I missed more than I got to actually play. Still, there were some real stand-outs this year, some real let-downs this year, and there's a bunch of games I still need to get around to trying in the coming months. So here is my (diminutive) list of games that stood out this year. Steep - As a long time fan of video games that emulate "e...

Dead Rising is my favorite series, so I'll buy the game regardless. I must say though, I'm apprehensive. It truly seems like they've stripped out all the things I've loved about DR in the past. And since they released the old games on the X1 and PS4, I've just recently replayed the best games (to me) in Dead Rising & Dead Rising 2 . One thing for which Capcom Game Studios Vancouver (or Blue Cas...

I'll be honest, I only really played about 4 games this year. I mean I played more than that, but a cursory run through and an actual play through are two different things. I technically played Bloodborne, but I didn't play enough of it to know if it's really great or whatever. I wasn't a Souls vet so the game didn't have a pedigree with me personally. I like it. I liked the look of it and I en...

This one may take some 'splaining. A week or so back in the community Spotlight, they featured a game by @havochq . I thought it was really neat, so I did some fan art for it. You can see the whole thing here: LINK I then noticed that she'd also made a game called "Commander Ryckert". This, coupled with the Bombcast having some Star Trek talk in recent episodes, made me want to do a mash up of...

A friend of mine is a big fan of the Captain Toad video game. And he's hoping that Cap Toad makes his way into Mario Kart 8 as a DLC at some point. While I haven't played Captain Toad's Treasure Hunt game yet, talking about the whole thing led me to make this:

To those of you who follow comics, you've likely heard about Spider-Gwen in the last few months. She was a new version of the Gwen Stacey character, reworked as an alternate universe where she got the spider bite powers instead of Peter Parker. Almost instantly embraced by fans, she's made quite a stir and is even set to get her own series now because of the outpouring of fan support for a one-...

This year has had some high points. There's no denying it. Shadow of Mordor was pretty good. I'm enjoying the GTA5 re release on my PS4. Wolfenstein managed to be a nice surprise. All that being said though, a huge part of this year has been layers upon layers of disappointment. Halo: Master Chief Collection , the long running Assassin's Creed series, InFamous:Second Son was much less than it's...

Like many video game fans, I picked up Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and I've been having a bunch of fun playing it this week. (I didn't start it the week it was released because of Forza Horizon 2 ) After spending quite a bit of time playing ME:SoM, I really hope that other game makers rip it off (as the title suggests). There's a lot about the Nemesis system to praise and I'm sure you've all...

Giant Bomb friend and all around smiley guy Brad Muir in Mjolnir Mk VI power armor. Muir-ster Chief

Watching SpikeTV's "Deadliest Warrior" and they're pitting Shaolin Monks against Maori Warriors. But seeing as the Shaolin were a pacifist order, wouldn't "Deadliest Warrior" be an insult to them?

For those not in the know, Beenox is the developer who is currently at the helm of the Spider-man franchise. A license owned by Activision and currently in the process of being milked and ruined in the Activision crap crank machine. Not that I mind them cranking out Spider-man games. At least in theory. I love Spider-man and playing games with him as the main character are like Kryptonite to me...

Today is the end of the Double Fine Adventure Kickstarter thingy. In case you haven't kept up with things, these guys asked for 400k and are well past the $3,000,000 mark. With a few hours left, who knows where the final number will end. I wanted to do something to commemorate the moment, so here it is. :)

One man's trash is another man's treasure I suppose. I found this kinda funny, you might too. Who what now???

I don't like being cynical. It isn't fun and the only benefit is that when things go pear shaped you can be that douchebag who says; I knew it all along. I see the appeal, but it's not really something I ever longed for. Of course in this day and age we're all cynics to a degree. At least those of us who spend time on the internet seem to be. So I've been harboring this secret cynicism, scared...

I'm not really looking forward to tomorrows BRICKED! finale. It's been a well of great material. But there's plenty of good stuff in the Giant Bombcast too so if I make another one of these, it'll probably be based on something the guys say in that broadcast. Or maybe something from the GDC coverage. But for now, here's the last BRICKED related Whiskey Shots. Enjoy it. OR ELSE!

I enjoy the "I love Mondays" segments they do each week here at GB. I really do. But that opening bit needs at least 10 seconds trimmed off of it. I'm as big a fan of Ryan Davis as the next Whiskey Media subscriber. But I can't figure out why that opening bit takes a full 25 seconds. Unless....

This isn't really Giant Bomb related per se, but it is Whiskey Media related. I've talked a time or two about The Amazing Test: Bricked on Tested.com. I am a bit of an AFOL anyway and it's fun watching their little competition. It also let me to make this: Hope you enjoy it. :) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------UPDATE---------------------------...

UPDATE: This is pretty darn late and hardly relevant since the Whiskey Media thing has been crushed under the weight of the buyouts and all that, but I've gotten to know Matt Elfring (Comic Vine's InferiorEgo) in recent weeks and realized he was a tragic omission from this. So to correct that error on my part, here is Matt Scruffy: InferiorJanitor Matt Scruffy, InferiorJanitor Finally got aroun...

Like most of us, I had a pretty busy gaming year in 2011. Mostly at the end of it, but many games were great all throughout. Here are the ones I wanted to recognize for excellence, infamy, and even downright holding back the industry. Let's get started. First up, I want to acknowlege a game that had a lot to prove. It came in with a legacy as diverse as a YinYang symbol and lived up to it's nam...

Of course this may not really be the absolute best thing about Skyrim, but it is a biggie for me personally. I'm the type of gamer who absolutely hates spoilers. I like to watch some vids to get me excited for the design and art style and gameplay of a game, but I don't want to know too much . But in our modern gaming culture, you can feasably end up knowing more than you wanted to know without...

You know, it's kinda funny actually. I'm a huge fan of all things undead. Zombie films, Zombie games, Zombie novels (Max Brooks FTW!). But Dead Island was a wholely unappealing mass of game that I had little to no interest in right up until the day it released. Or rather, right up until the Quick Look went up on GiantBomb.com that is. Despite my interest in the core set of enemies, Dead Island...
