Anyway, what have I been playing? Well, since you care so much, I'm going to tell you.
I know I'm late to the party on Rez, you don't have to tell me that. The reason I haven't played it yet is (besides the fact that I never bothered to get it on PS2) because I just recently got a 360, so I could never get it off XBLA. So yeah, lovin' Rez.
Limbo caught my eye ever since I saw some of the earlier videos on the site, and I'm happy now that it's out. I haven't beat it yet (I'll probably go do that after I write this up), but what I've seen so far is incredible. The art style lends itself pretty creatively to some of the puzzles, and the controls feel just right. I might talk about it more when I beat it, but for now - flawless.
Alien Swarm is a free download on Steam. I was a fool to ignore it, because it's great. Think top-down Left 4 Dead. I played through most of the campaign with a friend, and it's a solid game. What really stunned me was the quality, especially for a free game. The trailers and screenshots don't do it justice - you have to see that game in motion. The lighting, shadows... wow. Everything controls great with a mouse, and the class-based missions are really well put together. Except for the parasites. So, so cheap. It makes me wonder where they're gonna go from here. We got one campaign for free - are they gonna charge for the rest? Who knows.
I played through two campaigns of L4D2 with a friend on the 360. Dead Center and Dark Carnival. That game is really different on 360. I got used to it, but it's completely different from playing on PC. Everything's usually twitch-reflex with a mouse, but with a controller it's a bit harder. I could go on, but you all know the differences. Still - really fun. For some reason, Rochelle killed every single special infected. Stupid NPCs.
Team Fortress 2, to wrap it up. Yeah, I played some. Last night, actually. I leave for a couple months and people get way better at that game. I'm terrible now.
