Honorable Mention: Persona 4

Alright, I’m really cheating on this one. The other games I’ve written about have been ones that I played when I was younger. Persona 4, as you probably know (We’re on GiantBomb, right?) was released just 2 years ago, in 2008. However, this game does mean a lot to me. I will tell you why.

I first learned about the game through the Persona 4 Endurance Run. (What a surprise.) In all seriousness, I thought the game looked awesome, while all of my friends I showed remained skeptical. (They all realized how wrong they were eventually.) So I kept watching. I got up to episode 49, and I decided that I should stop, and play the game for real. 

Now, my best friend moved away from where I lived in Seward. After a while, I went down to visit him in Montana. We were eating some dinner, and looking for something to watch. I decided to take a gamble and show him the Endurance Run. Now, this friend is not as into video games and the like as I am. Nevertheless, he immediately fell in love with the game, its style, and (of course) Jeff and Vinny’s commentary. We watched a few more episodes, and then decided to start over from the beginning. After about a week of being down there, I flew back up to where I lived.

You’ve heard that relationships deteriorate over long distances, right?

Almost every night after that, we would watch the Endurance Run together. I guess we’re going to watch it all the way through, now. Not only was it a great source of entertainment, it helped keep our friendship alive over such long distances.

I bought a PS2 and Persona 4 because of the Endurance Run, and soon we’re going to try taking on our own game.

I have great memories of this game, but none surpassing the original 5 on this list. That’s why it's an honorable mention.
