Quickie Movie Review: Quarantined

by drrandle

I'm not a snob for movies, nor do I consider myself to have much place to tell you what to see. That being said, I still highly recommend that you see Quarantine if you have the same hard-on for zombie flicks I do. Don't let the trailer disguise it. This is a zombie flick, even if nobody ever actually says the 'z' word. It's told from the perspective of a journalist and her cameraman, shot a-la...

It's told from the perspective of a journalist and her cameraman, shot a-la Blair Witch Project and Cloverfield. Fair warning: You might get motion sick.

What I have to say I like about the movie is that the scares are pretty good. It plays a little by the numbers as far as zombie survival stories generally go, but it knows how to nail everything just right. The acting is pretty convincing, and I'm happy to see that the lead character does not find herself stepping up to be a hero... she's scared as hell, just like she should be. The movie does a great job giving you a feel for the characters in the beginning, without boring you. The lead actress is especially adorable, and she becomes entirely worth wanting her to survive.

I don't mean to spoil anything, but if you haven't seen a trailer yet, don't. The trailer gives away the ending. The ENDING. If you're involved in movie marketing and you can read this, or if you no somebody, STOP DOING THAT WITH TRAILERS! I don't care how awesome of a shot it is, but for fuck's sake the ending is right on the damned movie poster!

So yeah, go see the movie if you're a fan of horror or zombie flicks at all. I quaran-tee-ne that you'll like it. No? Sorry.
