CPT Ranking Update (07/03/18)

CEO 2018 happened this past weekend and there were more than a few shake ups on the CPT Global Leaderboard as a result. I'm a stat nerd and I also find the CPT website to be a bit cumbersome to use and lacking a few stats that'd be interesting to see, so I've been working on a Google Sheet and adding the results myself.

CURRENT CPT GLOBAL LEADERBOARD

1st(+3) - Fujimura (Placed 1st 11-1) +270 = 1691 Points

Fujimura has won his second premier this year, which puts him from his previous 4th rank to 1st place now. He skipped over Tokido, Infiltration, and NL. He currently sits 231 points above Infiltration who is in 2nd place after CEO. The only player he lost to was Xiao Hai in winner's finals. He beat him 3-1 and then 3-0 in grand finals.

2nd(+0) - Infiltration (Placed 5th 9-2) +130 = 1460 Points

Infiltration just passed over Tokido with his 130 points gained, putting him just 90 above the former front-runner. He lost to Sako in winner's side and Phenom in loser's side.

3rd(-2) - Tokido (Placed 17th 7-2) +20 = 1370 Points

Tokido was finally dethroned this weekend from his top spot in the CPT global leaderboard. Is it all because of the Akuma nerf? I'm kidding. His placing as of late have been kind of lackluster. For Murderface that is, getting 17th at CEO and 9th at Combo Breaker are definitely good placements. He was just so much more dominant in the earlier parts of the year. Is this because of him putting all his effort into ELeague, is he feeling off in the game, or have competitors gotten more accustomed to Akuma's gameplan? He was defeated by Takamura and then CJ Truth. Which were both upsets, in my opinion.

4th(-1) - NL (Placed 13th 7-2) +40 = 1061 Points

NL placed respectably at CEO and was knocked down one rank because of Fujimura's ascension. He still is in quite a comfortable place with over 1,000 points and will have no issue qualifying for Capcom Cup. He was defeated by Itabashi Zangief and Xian.

5th(+0) - NuckleDu (Placed 7th 8-2) +100 = 610 Points

NuckleDu's ranked didn't move at all after this weekend. He had a good showing. He was defeated by Sako and then Xian.

6th(+0) - Verloren (Placed 7th 7-2) +100 = 600 Points

Hot on NuckleDu's heels is Verloren only 10 points behind him on the global leaderboard and also his position didn't change. He was defeated by the champ, Fujimura, and then Infiltration.

7th(+3) - Xian (Placed 5th 10-2) +130 = 522 Points

Xian had a good showing this weekend and went up 3 spaces on the global leaderboard, overtaking Daigo, Justin Wong, and Oil King. He was defeated by Xiao Hai and then Sako.

8th(+1) - Daigo (Placed 9th 7-2) +70 = 502 Points

Daigo ended up going up 1 space on the leaderboard. He was defeated by Phenom (as usual) and Verloren.

9th(-2) - Justin Wong (Placed 385th???!! 0-2???) 491 Points

This seems like a DQ situation to me. The two players he lost to are JROD24 and Jalen. I legitimately have no idea though. Thankfully, he had 491 points already and only went down 2 spaces.

10th(-2) - Oil King (Placed 13th 6-2) +40 = 490 Points

He went down 2 spaces as well on the global leaderboard. He lost to Infiltration and then NuckleDu.

11th(+5) - Sako (Placed 4th 8-2) +160 = 471 Points

It's interesting to see Sako come back in to relevance. He's been having a pretty good series of tournaments as of late. He won the 1st East Asia Online Ranking event lately and also placed 9th at Combo Breaker before that. He moved up 5 spots on the global leaderboard. He lost to Fujimura and then Phenom.

12th(-1) - Caba (Placed 9th 6-2) +70 = 451 Points

Caba moved down one spot on the leaderboard to make room for Sako. He lost to Phenom and then Xian.

13th(+7) - Phenom (Placed 3rd 9-2) + 200 = 440 Points

Mr. Hanjani had a phenomenal *cough* weekend only losing to the two people who placed above him Xiao Hai and the Fujimura. He went up a whopping 7 spots with the 200 points that he secured.

14th(-1) - Fuudo (Placed 9th 6-2) +70 = 410 Points

Fuudo only moved down one spot this weekend. He was defeated by Xiao Hai and then NuckleDu.

15th(-3) - Problem X (Placed 17th 5-2) +20 = 391 Points

Problem X went down 3 ranks. He was defeated by 1st place Fujimura and then 5th place XIan.

16th(-2) - Bonchan (Placed 17th 5-2) +20 = 352 Points

Bonchan is still biding his time for Sagat. He goes down 2 ranks this weekend. He was defeated by Verloren and then NL.

17th(-2) - Nemo (Placed 65th 3-2) 330 Points

No points for Nemo this weekend. He goes down 2 ranks as a result. He was defeated by Ludovic and then CJTruth who had a pretty good weekend.

18th(+0) - MenaRD (Placed 17th 7-2) +20 = 311 Points

The Capcom Cup 2017 champion continues just enough to keep himself in the mix on the leaderboard, not that he has to. He position on the leaderboard sees no movement. He lost to Mago and then NuckleDu.

19th(-2) - Gachikun (Placed 33rd 4-2) +1 Point = 302 Points

Getting 1 point this weekend has made him drop down 2 spots in the global leader board. He lost to Tokido and then Problem X.

20th(+70) - Xiao Hai (Placed 2nd 9-2) +270 = 280 Points

I'm assuming Xiao Hai decided to take a break from KoF because he really showed up this weekend after a disappointing start of the year. He previously only had 10 whole points before CEO. Gaining the 270 for 2nd placed shot him up 70 spots on the leaderboard. As you can imagine, the was the single greatest gain in ranking this weekend. He ultimately lost to Fujimura in grand finals after getting there on winner's side.

21st(-2) - Christ T (Placed 33rd 4-2) +1 = 252 Points

ChrisT went down 2 spots this weekend after only obtaining 1 point this weekend. He was toppled by Caba and then Smug.

22(-2) - Dogura (Placed 97th 3-2) 240 Points

Dogura went out early this weekend and didn't get anyone points this weekend. He goes 2 spots because of this. He lost to K-Brad and then Wolfgang, who is a pretty legit Blanka player who did well this weekend.

23(-1) - Luffy (Placed 33rd 5-2) +1 = 211 Points

Not the best weekend for one of Europe's finest, but he did manage to eliminate RobTV and MOV before getting dusted himself. He only went down on spot on the leaderboard. He was defeated by Poongko and then Kazunoko.

24(-1) - Momochi (Placed 33rd 5-2) +1 = 191 Points

Momochi got 1 point and went down one rank in the global leaderboard. He was defeated by Kindevu and Xiao Hai

25(-2) - Brolynho (Did not attend) 190 Points

Brolynho sat this one out and moved down 2 spots this weekend.

26(-4) - GamerBee (Placed 33rd 4-2) +1 = 161 Points

Taiwan's GamerBee got 1 point for the weekend and moved down one spot on the leaderboard. He lots to Bonchan and BbyongBbyong.

27(+4) - Akainu (Placed 17 7-2) +20 = 151 Points

27(-1) - Flash (Placed 49th 5-2) 151 Points

These two are tied for the last qualifying spot on the global leaderboard at the moment. I'm not really sure how they handle those situations, probably because it's extremely unlikely to be a problem when Capcom Cup rolls around. Akainu has been knocking on the door of the top of Europe for awhile now. He received 20 points for his performance this weekend losing to Itabashi Zangief and then Poongko. Flash didn't acquire any points this time around and was eliminated by Momochi and Doomsnake.

REMEMBER THE FALLEN

This goes out to the players who were knocked off their qualifying spots. These two are only on the leaderboard because of online ranking events, so it doesn't come as a surprise that they've gotten eliminated with their lack of travel. We'll see these two at their respective regional finals no doubt.

HERE COMES A NEW CHALLENGER

This section is just to note people who have managed the prestigious honor of just being on the leaderboard. One point may not seem like a lot, but it's quite the accomplishment to even make 33rd at these stacked premier events.

94 - Kindevu (Placed 25th 5-2) +10 Points

The Golden Fatty finally has made it onto the leaderboard. I believe he doesn't travel to often, so it's not surprising that he is just now on here. He did some incredible work with Sakura at Evo Japan earlier this year. He received 10 points and lost to Shine and then Sako.

94 - BbyongBbyong (Placed 25th 7-2) +10 Points

He is a Korean player who uses Birdie. He showed up a few times last year during the CPT season. I didn't see him on stream, so I don't really have much more to say about him. He received 10 points and lost to Kazunoko and Terrence.

94 - Wolfgang (Placed 25th 5-2) +10 Points

A fun player to watch that I hadn't heard of until CEO. He mains Blanka and was quite formidable with him. Impressively he beat Wolfkrone and Dogura in the winner's side of his pool, first phase of pools. But he lost to Smug and Poongko in the end to received 10 points. I hope to see him at least show up at some of the North American ranking events.

120 - Magnegro (Placed 33rd 6-2) +1 Point

Magnegro has been around and now his on the 2018 CPT global leaderboard. He lost to Alex Myers in winner's side. Then he eliminated Bas and Terrence along with two others before Mago took him out of the tournament.

120 - Eita (Placed 33rd 5-2) +1 Point

Apparently Eita wasn't on the leaderboard yet. That's madness to me. He lost to Problem X in winner's side. Then eliminated Tommy2Step and Sabin before Takamura, Belgian Akuma main who sent Tokido to losers, punched his clocked.

REGIONAL PLAYER COUNT AMONG QUALIFIERS

Not too surprising, Asia has the vast majority of the spots with all the other regions pretty much tied. You may notice that these add up to 33 players and that's because of Akainu and Flash being tied for the last qualifying spot.

NEXT CPT EVENTS

This next weekend is stacked with events to watch and chances for players to climb that CPT ladder. There are 3 ranking events over the weekend, one of them being an online ranking event. I'm personally looking forward to watch 3 top 8 this weekend.

I kind of just slapped this thing together on a whim. I thought maybe some others would enjoy looking at the position changes as well, but without all the effort that I've gone through. I plan on putting more match details into the report next, like listing all notable players the specific players beat. I also think I got the order of defeat for some players wrong because I misread smash.gg. If you have any comments, suggestions, or formatting advice please leave me some feedback. I'd like to do this regularly and to try to make it at least a little bit interesting.
