The voice actor of Vader sounds nothing like James Earl Jones Can someone shed a little light on this topic for me? A new Star Wars game is coming out making it the 101st Star Wars game to be released, and everyone is saying what an amazing game it's going to be. So for the past couple of months I've been thinking "this just looks like a Star Wars branded third person action game, what's the big deal?" But I thought I'd hold off my total opinion until I played it myself. Now that the demo is out, I can tell you, it plays like a Star Wars Branded third person action game. It's 2008 people, this kind of thing has been done to death. Didn't anyone play the Star Wars related movie games? They weren't that much different from what you're playing right now.

I guess the force grip wasn't used as extensively, but it still plays just like every other star wars game ever. Block makes you invulnerable, and while the idea of force powers sound great, it seems like you never actually get to grip, push, or electrocute the exact target you were aiming for. So you end up just running around slicing things while chunks of health evaporate from your health bar. I think it's kind of obvious that the game's difficulty wasn't designed so elegantly, when enemies actually drop health. So they're pretty much expecting you to lose health all the time, and to make up for it, give you little boosts whenever you kill an enemy. Something about it just makes the experience kind of mediocre.

Force Powers have always looked cool, but they continue to be useless So I'll continue not caring about Star Wars: The Force Unleashed like I haven't cared about it for the past several months. The one part of this game that they've been drilling into our heads is how amazing the combination of physics, AI intelligence, and matter awareness. So a board breaks differently depending on how sturdy it is etc. etc. But none of that is shown off in the demo, and I bet it's because none of that stuff is in the game. It's a side thing that you can notice in a control tech demo, but when you're playing a game, it never actually effects anything you do. So they just blew thousands, or maybe even millions of dollars on technology no one gives a shit about. Games have done this before, and this one isn't going to be any different.

So until a Star Wars game with "Knights of the Old Republic" in the name is released, give me a Far Cry or Fallout over this, any day.
