Quick impressions from finishing the game. Actually first I should mention:

AFTER YOU BREAK OUT OF <SOME PLACE> WITH A <LARGE COMPANION>, SAVE YOUR GAME

I've added the <>s to avoid spoilers. But pretty much after that point, everything is on a roll towards the end of the game. And once you finish the main quest, guess what, the game is over, you can't go back into the world. So if you want to do all the side quests with a character, then do them before, or just save, and then go do the quest, and load up your old game for a good time. Back to the impressions.
Vault Boy approves, and so do I
The way the game handles the ending I thought was well done. It's basically a collage of black and white pictures while a narrator goes over how your life went. If the majority of the game you were good, then it mentions that, etc. If you did some key events, such as blowing up Megaton (that's not a spoiler) it shows up in the montage. And then there's two big decisions near the end of the game, which it goes over depending on what you did. The game made it seem like if you were a dick, everyone knew you were a dick, and they'll know the only good thing you did (if you chose to at the end) was the one thing. Unlike games like Fable (1) where once you choose the good ending everyone thinks you're wonderful, even if you slaughtered villages of people just for fun. Very well done.

I want to dive back into the game immediately. I was an asshole most of the time, so I want to see what happens if I do everything differently, but at the same time I just want to try a different fighting style, different professions, etc. See if I can get my character up to level 20 before the game ends, etc. And then I'll screw around with killing random people. Maybe slaughter the entire city of Rivet City with my own hands, we'll see.

A lot of people have complained that the game doesn't really "feel" like Fallout, and it might as well have been called "Trashland." But is that really so bad? Everyone who wanted another Fallout, didn't think this would live up to the expectations, so who is being disappointed? Besides Vault Boy's appearance (see right) and stuff like the Brotherhood of Steel showing up and Power Armor being in the game, there wasn't any real Fallout stuff present. Really I think any old game that's being remade, shouldn't be seen as a new installment, just a new game that's reminiscent of a great franchise. I think Bethesda did a great job with the setting of "nuclear holocaust" and that's all they really needed to borrow from Fallout.

Anyway, you guys can see my full thoughts on the game in a few days. I don't want to bore you, so I'll end this here.

By the way if you have LittleBigPlanet, I suggest you play the God of War - Demon's Skull level. It's awesome. If you don't want to play it, then here's a YouTube clip. I found the level on the "Cool Pages" section, on page 1 near South Africa on the map. Check it out, it's good.
