Battlefield 3 and it's "positive reaction"
The Battlefield franchise has never convinced me to buy these games; everytime I tried to play one of the Battlefield games it is often for a short while and then I uninstall it due to it being multiplayer-focused which isn't really suited to my preference. Now when Battlefield 3 was announced, I just ignored it and will probably feature the same multiplayer experience and gameplay and other new tweaks and changes.

We get to see much of this throughout the demo! The dust, particle and environment looks impressive but not outstanding.
The long-winded demo that they showed in this year's EA Press Conference was applauded and was given positive feedback, mostly because of it's incredible stunning graphics and detail. Sometimes journalist/enthusiast disappoint me, within seconds of the demo they are shocked to see how beautiful it is and avoiding the slightest amount of gameplay. Sure there is an exception to this but don't go blindly into viewing a demo and think this is the "GAME OF THE SHOW" - how many things you could describe positively about the reason why Battlefield 3 merits that award is just possibly filled up the appreciation of the graphics not how the game is actually is. The livestream had commented this validity, specifically when David Jaffe had mentioned other journalists being pumped about this game even though we didn't get much gameplay and details aside from the tank battles and the short kinda UAV sequence.

      Tank with Night-Vision!
From watching that demo in the press conference, I was also not surprised at the graphics and how realistic and pretty it is. I could tell you that there are more detail fidelity in the graphics when the tanks advance through the dust and the explosions looks to die for but it's not Crytek-impressive for me. It's not that I'm bashing the graphics, it's the reaction of journalists who think this is really good-looking in detail wise and we get to only see tanks battling it out with other tanks but we don't clearly see the opposition's tanks as they are shooting from afar. The demo reminds me of those earlier Call of Duty games where you get to use a tank but since it's modern times, tanks don't get closer or advance to see how they look like.

      Look Familiar?
What's important for the Battlefield games isn't about the graphics, it's about the multiplayer and gameplay that surrounds the franchise. From the looks of it, it felt like the same gameplay experience from the previous Battlefield games but with some additions like when you call a UAV or air strike from your tank which goes Modern Warfare-style of black and white with white objects that you need to destroy. This demo is comprised of your forces eliminating the opposition's base and forces, starting from tanks, going to "UAV mode" to prompt an airstrike to destroy an artillery battery to finishing the base off with your tank within a long demonstration. It's frustrating to me seeing this that they only show little of what Battlefield games should be and not going "GAGA" over the graphics and jumping to gun, calling this game "GAME OF THE SHOW" without seeing other games.

I really liked that David Jaffe brought that point and the GB crew agreeing that reaction (1 HOUR MARK) from the Battlefield 3 demo was "jumping the gun" too soon for nominating it and not revealing much of the game but a teaser of tanks and explosions. Also that people has been wanting and hoping to get rid of Modern Warfare and this is probably the reaction because of that but remember when Medal of Honour is said to "take back this genre"? Well that game fell apart and people are not talking about it anymore since the day it was launched. The game looks nice and the gameplay reminds to be addicting but getting too stroked for it is a little too early, other games are showing on the show floor and assuming this game will be nominated is disappointing. I really hated the reaction that sparked so much praised fro this demo and it's like how everyone applauded when they announced the Gunsmith feature in Future Soldier. I still don't want to play this game and will probably watch some kind of walkthrough or when TNT decided to do Battlefield 3.
