Discovering Lost Planet 2..last week.

I remember the first Lost Planet like this. SNOW...HOLY SHIT LOOK HOW GOOD THAT SNOW LOOKS. Also those bugs kinda remind me of Starship Troopers.

But I never actually played the game, just the demo, and that was enough for me. It was a great tech demo for the Xbox 360, and a great way to prove that this machine was worth buying.

So when Lost Planet 2 came out I was like...meh. I did play the demo with friends a bit, but it wasn't anything too exciting. I moved on forgetting about it till last week. Last week Capcom put a bunch of their title on XB Live for sale. Lost Planet 2 was one of them, and at 5 dollars it was too damn cheap to pass on. So me, my brother, and my friend bought and began to play it. We expected a weird coop shooter. We got a LOT more then that.

We got one of my all time favorite games on Xbox 360.

Seriously, this game blew me away. It did things that I haven't seen other games do, and used coop in creative and fun ways. It was like a breath of fresh air.

You fight in the snow, jungle, air, underwater, inside a volcano, a broken down city and even SPACE. The monsters you fight are disgusting and weird. They feel scary and come at you with a fury not many enemies in games do these days. Some are large, others fast and others are FUCKING large. You end the game on on top and inside of one, with dozens of other soldiers. Its ridiculous.

Lost Planet 2 has a Hollywood Action Movie story line. Its not great, but has enough fun/dumb in it that you won't care. Especially after you play the desert gun train level. Its easily the best coop mission I have ever played.

Not to spoil it too much, you take control of a large train, which has a large cannon onboard. Below the cannon is ammo, and below that is engines. You have to keep the engines running, load ammo into the gun, charge the rounds and another player has to aim and fire that cannon. You end up yelling and talking to your friends like your in a Star Trek episodes, asking for rounds to be loaded, checking on the engines, telling people to get more speed on the cannon, etc.

And the game barely explains how to do this, or most anything in the game. It makes you use your headsets and actually forces you to play as a team. Its great fun, and something many games don't do anymore.

Seriously, I won't spoil any more crazy moments, but trust me this game is worth $60 still, and right now its only $5. And when the sales are done, it will be only $10. Buy it. Tell your friends to buy it. Play it and get ready for Lost Planet 3...which looks...um..good..maybe..

Ok, whatever, but still. Play Lost Planet 2.
