Red Dead Redemption

1. Red Dead Redemption

Probably one of the best well-rounded games out this year. Not only was the sandbox world fun to run/ride around in, but the story was really well done. If you love a good western, why have you not played this?

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

2. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

A great followup to one of my favorite games of last year. This game is great evidence of how to focus game design when given a short development cycle. New gameplay mechanics, mission variety, faster combat, and a story that picks up where the last game left off; Ubisoft continues to refine and improve upon the Assassin's Creed experience.

Mass Effect 2

3. Mass Effect 2

Epic. I will admit that the first game had a number of sections in it that really dragged. ME2 has been focused and streamlined in every way imaginable. The combat is now much of a 3rd person shooter experience. Your skill with the controls and use of the environment now feels more a part of your success or failure. The story has equally been streamlined. The overall plot is easy to follow, but the twist and turns along the way constantly bring new experiences.
