Too many great games didn't make this list. But this is what I could slim it down to.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

1. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

There is nothing new that really needs to be said about Skyrim. But, I will say it is the only game that is still truly enjoyable well after the story is finished and you are already 100 hours in. Pick one of the countless ways to play the game and you will get a fantastic experience every time. It will make you wonder not only where the weekend went, but where the last 3 months went.

Saints Row: The Third

2. Saints Row: The Third

How far the Saints have come. I loved the 1st two games, 100% all three of them now. This game just has something that makes you smile ear to ear as you play through the entire game. Just as soon as you think the game can't get anymore crazy, it doubles that and says "what's next?". Its self awareness gives it an even further level of humor, couple with everything else, that made this game unmatched in fun and comedy in a game this year and the last few years as well.

Dead Space 2

3. Dead Space 2

For someone who missed out on Dead Space, this second coming was a complete surprise. I had found a good deal on it only 2 weeks after release and decided to jump on the deal. I am so glad I gave this game a second chance after the bad taste the demo for the first game I lazily played before it came out. Horror in games is a hard thing to pull off, but Dead Space is genuinely scary and aside from Penumbra, I had some of the most "edge of the seat, jump through ceiling, yelling at the TV" Moments ever. Since this I have gone back and played the first game, and eagerly awaiting whatever comes next in the Dead Space universe.

Portal 2

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

6. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

Same as second you say? In a way yes, it was. But, take the second and add more spin tingling action where drake defies death for the countless time as he dangles from the edge rope/net/pipe than is seconds away from breaking apart, and you have Uncharted 3.

Mortal Kombat

7. Mortal Kombat

The first time I witnessed the transition from cut scene to fight scene I was more than stunned. The smooth transitions, solid combat, lengthy character list, and the satisfying rib stomping made this not only one of my favorite games of the year, but also one of my favorite fighting titles of all time.

Bastion

8. Bastion

When I first saw Bastion previews, long before the game was released I was more than skeptical. I just didn't think it would have the depth it did, and the gameplay would be sub-par. Wow, I was completely wrong and slapped myself in the face after just playing 20mins of the game. The tight controls, variety of weapons, difficulty mechanic, and spectacular presentation made this game something special.

L.A. Noire

Alice: Madness Returns

10. Alice: Madness Returns

A grim, dark, and beautiful platformer that hit all the right spots in my brain for a truly amazing trip down the rabbit hole that is Alice.
