I'm getting a rescue dog this weekend, and I have been thinking about how few meaningful game experiences involve playing as our favorite canine friends. This list is meant to be a place for others to help me list these games, not a definitive list from the start.

Ok, so maybe you are a wolf, and in in actuality an Avatar of the Japanese Sun God, but throughout the game, everyone sees you as a dog, and you are awesome, so it counts. The premiere play-as-a-dog game that came to my mind.
As Shadow, the hero's sidekick, you get rip out throats of just-misunderstood bad guys in this middling third-person action game. The realest virtual pet.
See Okami, but littler, and with a boy riding you, which is not recommended Dog/Wolf/God-Avatar treatment.
