Game franchises I'd love to see resurrected.

by fisk0

Dead game series that I wish were picked up again.

Preferably in the same genre as the original games.

Showing 1-9 of 9 items

Wing Commander

1. Wing Commander

The first game series I experienced with more than 4 colours and with an actual story line that progressed throughout the game.

Dune

2. Dune

The series that popularized the RTS genre. Dune 2000 is still one of the best of the late 90's RTS wave, and Emperor Battle for Dune is one of the few 3D RTSes that actually play well.

Wizardry

3. Wizardry

Yeah, it's still popular in Japan, and they still get new Wizardry titles, which rarely - if ever - are localized to Europe or the US. I'd prefer a new canadian Wizardry title though.

Syndicate

4. Syndicate

Rumors say that this is being worked on by Starbreeze/EA. Nothing official about it so far though. Not a single mention on E3 2010.

Commander Keen

5. Commander Keen

2D platformers with HD sprites. Please.

Descent

6. Descent

I guess these just wouldn't play well for the console generation. They were primarily made to play with joysticks or keyboard, not gamepads. I'd still love to see a new Descent title though.

System Shock

7. System Shock

Sure. We've got Bioshock, Dead Space and Portal, which all contain parts of what made the System Shock games so great. Still I'd love to get a new System Shock game recombining all those parts again.

Duke Nukem

8. Duke Nukem

Sure, Duke Nukem Forever couldn't hurt, but I actually wish the most for a return of the 2D platformers.

Dark Reign

9. Dark Reign

One of the greatest RTS titles of the late 90's. The second game didn't play well in 3D though. I'd love a return to 2D, but with higher resolution graphics.
