Unicorn Overlord

1. Unicorn Overlord

Exceedingly gorgeous 2D sprites and tactics gameplay lifted from Ogre Battle. The story is rote but serviceable. I guess all the crazy plot geniuses were busy writing 13 Sentinels instead.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

2. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

A wackadoo story with some real heart. Ichiban Kasusa is who I want to be. Emotionally intelligent, empathetic, a pillar of his community, and a total badass. He's my role model!

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II

3. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II

The opposite of LAD:IW in some ways. Ain't no empathy here. Just rivers of heretical blood to shed for our immaculate Emperor. Glory be!

Fortnite

4. Fortnite

This game is so cool. It's like a big toy box where all my action figures headshot each other and then hit the griddy over the bullet-ridden bodies of John Cena and Naruto.

Sons of the Forest

5. Sons of the Forest

This spooky survival-crafting game really hooked me. Chopping up trees and corpses to make a lovely, fortified base has never been so beautiful or fun. It also has 2024's debut character of the year: Melvin.

Marvel Rivals

6. Marvel Rivals

Anime Overwatch with Spider-man. It is as derivative as it is fun. The art style is amazing and it oozes style. The battle pass is very limiting in how quickly you can progress, but that's my only real complaint.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero

7. Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero

If this had a story mode that wasn't half-assed it might make it all the way to number 1. The combat is very overwhelming to learn, but once you got it, you are living your life like a Kamehameha as never before. It's an incredible lightshow.

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail

8. Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail

The story for this expansion is kinda wack by FFXIV standards, but it's good enough. Its fight design has improved drastically and the raids are a lot more involved, even for normie mode.

Slay the Princess

9. Slay the Princess

I don't understand how this game exists. It's a visual novel with seemingly endless permutations that all have beautiful art and excellent voice acting. Some interesting philosophical quandaries that'll make you "hmmm."

Tekken 8

10. Tekken 8

Chucking Mishimas off cliffs has never looked better. Very satisfying combat and easier to get into than older Tekkens since you basically have a super meter to spam cool moves with if you don't wanna learn the bazillion different inputs for each character.
