Started in 2017 - Finished January 16 Pretty much your standard open world city crime game. What sets this game apart is the setting and the story. The story is told in a documentary like fashion and kept me interested all the way through. And the setting is memorable for having the main character be a black man in the US deep south during the 60s. Racism is a big part of this game as you can be targeted by the cops for just being in the wrong bar. The problem with this game is that you need to take over the city which has 6 districts. Each district has 2 bases and to take them over you have to cause enough damage for the boss to appear. The driving and gunplay was fun enough for me to keep going, but it was repetitive. As a completionist, I felt compelled to get every single one I could find so that padded out my time a bit. There isn't much to say about this game. I feel that my time playing it was well spent, but aside from the story, it wasn't that memorable. In the end, I would still recommend this game.

Started 2017 - Can't finish My #2 GOTY last year simply due to the addicting multiplayer. When I need that game to play for a half hour this is it. I expect I'll be playing this game for a while depending on how their year 2 plans turn out. For Honor's fighting formula works simply because of how simple it is to get into. This is a perfect example of a game that is easy to pick up and hard to master. Every character has a light attack, a heavy attack, a dodge, and a guardbreak. That's it. Learning the different heroes requires you to learn how these different attacks chain together. And when you learn the details of what attacks flow into each other, you will feel like a badass roaming the battlefield chopping off heads. Winning your first 3v1 as a result is a memorable experience. Anyone can immediately get out there and start doing damage. You will get beaten down in the beginning like you would with every other fighting game. But if you spend some time learning how to play defense you can get over the newbie hump pretty quick. The new training mode teaches you everything you need to know to get into the online mulitplayer. There is a pretty good matchmaking in the multiplayer as well. When there were 100k+ people in the game I was still being matched with people around my rank. I never got into a match with someone who just started. Mix in the fun combat system with the different game modes and you have a very addictive multiplayer experience. The main mode, Domination, is based around a map with 3 points to capture king of the hill style. It's like Battlefield conquest mode but with decapitation and is easily my favorite mode to play. You can get a mix of duels and team fights. And in the beginning, I would suggest you get into domination and just stick with your teammates until you learn the game. The starter edition comes with a few free heroes but every thing else including cosmetics, different executions, and even additional heroes require the in game currency to unlock. Never in my 200+ hours of playing this game have I felt the need to buy the currency. With the daily contracts, the in game currency is given out at a decent pace. It's a little slow since this is a game as a service. But it is not frustratingly slow. The devs are committed to making this game a better experience as they are constantly making changes, doing special events and extra loot weekends. Also, the community around the game is generally pretty chill; much better than some other online mulitplayer games I've played. I've played this game since season 4 (2017) and there is a reason why I keep coming back to it. Get the game now before the next expansion hits.
Started Jan 28 - Finished May 8 (Finished all DLC - June 29) Time to dive into one of the greatest RPGS ever made, or so I've been told. It took me 91 hours to finish the main campaign and I still want to keep going. Thankfully I have 2 DLCs to play through now. What struck me about this game and what kept me coming back was the attention to detail. The people at CDPR are masters at world building and I just wanted to spend as much time as I could exploring that world. Here's a protip: create a safety safe at the start of the final chapter of the game. There are decisions you can make which could lead you down the path toward the "bad" ending. I had to replay from an earlier save because I didn't want Geralt to go out like that.
Started October 12 - Finished February 9 Baldur's Gate 2 was an annual game for me for quite a while and this game so far is a worthy successor. This game is so much of a successor that, like BG2, I stopped playing it 2/3 of the way through. But the classic rpg design that made BG2 an annual game is here with PoE. Coming back to this game after a few months left me with some unanswered questions regarding the story, but that's what replay is for.
Started Feb 20 Gave this game another chance since it left early access. And this is still a very solid 4x game. Maybe smaller in time consumption than Civ, but it's created its own place in the market and is worth playing.
Specifically the War of the Chosen expansion Started Feb 17 - Finished Feb 22 I loved the first one and for some reason kept putting this game off. Haven't gotten far into a new WotC game but I like what I see so far. That I played through this entire game in the span of a week says a lot for how fun and addictive it was. Better than the first game which was a modern classic
Started Feb 22 - Finished March 3 So far it's better than the first one. Wolfenstein 2 picks up from the moment the last game ended. In fact, I would recommend that you play the first one before this game to get a sense of the tension that exists in this world. The Wolfenstein alternate history is grim and it takes its toll on the characters. The BJ monologues through the game paints the picture that everyone is still fighting for freedom but they are all injured inside and out. You get the sense that BJ is tired but he soldiers on for his friends and family and every step into action is a step toward death. That's not to say that the game doesn't aslo has a point about the apparent modern day social issues about fighting for what you belive in and punching nazis. This is a decent first person shooter game that is held together by the setting and the story. As a collection of holy cow moments, this game does not disappoint. The action could be a little better as I had a better time with other Bethesda FPSs before, like DOOM. You get the sense that the shooting gameplay itself serves only as a method to drive the next cut scene. And while I enjoyed playing the game, I enjoyed the story more. I would recommend this game and don't let anyone spoil the story for you.
Started Feb 23 - Can't finish. This was a 2 day experience. I wanted to see if this game is worth playing over Civ 5 or even Civ 4. And no, it isn't.
Started Feb 27 - Finished Feb 27 Remastered version. One of those classic point and click games that I passed over back in the day as I didn't have a good enough computer at the time (no CD drive). And when I did, I couldn't find this game anywhere to purchase. So I'm finally getting my chance to play it with the remastered version. And man, I love the Lucas Art classics. This is a short but sweet classic point and click game. This genre isn't for everyone but I'd still recommend it if only to see what pc games used to be.
