What considers to be the black sheep by the team of id Software is actually my favourite game from the company. Quake is responsible for paving the way to future FPS titles like Call of Duty and Half-Lifewith its addicting gameplay and top notch graphical experience. I love Quake to bits and gibs!
The game that's been ported and re-released numerous times and for good reasons. Duke Nukem 3D is a fantastic game from beginning to end.
Poor ending but it doesn't matter. The world of Painkiller is satisfying to live, breathe, and kill.
I personally did not grow up with the original DOOM; only its sequels. DOOM 3 was initially my pick in this list until the latest DOOM came out and blew my mind off. Everything about it is slick, fast, cool, and extraordinary. It's amazing how id Software was able to balance its minimal plot and mindless action pretty well. That's great game design right there.
